In both versions, Ice Shards is a potent method of dealing a lot of collateral damage, despite its slow attack speed, having infinite freezing pierce combined with its shards. This makes ice shards a solid cleanup tower when paired with Bloon stalling such as [[Bloon Impact (BMC)|Bloon Impact]] or [[Glue Hose (BMC)|Glue Hose]] (but not [[Arctic Wind (BMC)|Arctic Wind]] as it disables the shard attack) in order to clump Bloons up, keep them within range of the Ice Monkey and additionally trigger the shards themselves. It can often be the sole damaging cleanup tower of mass Ceramic and Rainbow children if a defense is otherwise too heavy on MOAB-Class damage, such as when spamming [[MOAB Mauler (BMC)|MOAB Mauler]]s or [[Bloonjitsu (BMC)|Bloonjitsu]]s.
