The Big One is the Mortar Monkey's path 1 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons Monkey City. It increases the Mortar Monkey's damage from 2 to 5, reduces its attack cooldown from 2.1 seconds to 1.8 seconds (effectively increasing its attack speed by roughly 16.7%), increases its pierce from 40 to 100, and allows it to damage Black Bloons. In the Bloons Monkey City, it does not increase its blast radius due to an oversight involving changes made to its parameters when Monkey Knowledge was added to the game. In the Bloons Monkey City, it correctly increases its blast radius by roughly 53%.
The Big One is the Mortar Monkey's path 1 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons Monkey City. It provides the following bonuses from it's prerequisite:

* Damage increased from 2 to 5
Monkey Knowledge Ranks 5, 10, and 15 for the Mortar Monkey increases Big One's damage by +1, +2, and +3, respectively.
* Blast radius increased
* Attack cooldown reduced from 2.1 seconds to 1.8 seconds
* Pierce increased

Strategy
The Big One has a high cost compared to other options, and it relies on Monkey Knowledge (mainly, at least Rank 5) and a map that favors the large blast radius (such as maps like Rose and Yo-Yo), but it is still viable for greatly assisting cleanup of hordes of Ceramic Bloons and below.
On the multiplatform version, due to the bugged range it is not worth it as ceramics leave the radius before they can be hit twice to fully pop.
It's recommended to buy Rapid Reload to improve its consistency. Burny Stuff also provides bonus damage during the downtime between shots, which can often finish off weakened Bloons that leave the blast radius.

Footnotes
As Big One is the most expensive Mortar Monkey, it can be used to fulfill the Bomb/Mortar sacrifices for Temple Of The Monkey God, preferably undiscounted to ensure its maximum value is consumed.
