Archmage is the Wizard Monkey's path 1 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It improves all of Wizard Monkeys attacks, especially its main bolt, and grants it a new flame attack similar to Dragon's Breath and a new decamo aura attack similar to Shimmer.
Archmage is the Wizard Monkey's path 1 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. <section begin="lede" />This upgrade improves all of the Wizard Monkey's attacks, especially its main bolt, and grants the signature attacks of Dragon's Breath and Shimmer:

*Main bolt: Damage increased from 6 to 8 with bonus MOAB-Class damage from +10 to +19 (or +20 with Arcane Impale), increases their pierce from 7 to 11 (16 with 5-0-1), and has an attack cooldown of 0.1375 seconds. With Arcane Impale, this upgrade grants main bolts +1 Ceramic damage.
This upgrade doubles the attack speed Wizard Monkey's main bolts, increases their damage from 6 to 8 with increased MOAB-Class damage from +10 to +19 (or +20 with Arcane Impale), and increases their pierce from 7 to 11. With Arcane Impale, this upgrade grants main bolts +1 Ceramic damage.
*Dragon's Breath: Has an attack cooldown of 0.0675 seconds instead of 0.135, and each flame receives +8 MOAB-Class damage.

*Shimmer: Attacks every second instead of every 2 seconds.
Archmage's new flame attack deals 2 damage with +10 MOAB-Class damage, has 3 pierce, and an attack cooldown of 0.0675 seconds. Flames cannot damage Purple Bloons. This attack has 40 units of range, less than the Wizard Monkey itself. The flames apply a burn damage-over-time effect, dealing 1 damage every 1.5 seconds and lasting for 3 seconds.

Archmage's new decamo aura deals no damage, and removes the Camo property from up to 500 Bloons in a 75 unit radius.

Special crosspath bonuses
* Fireball —  increases its projectile count from 1 to 3, increasing its damage from 2 to 9 with +36 MOAB-Class damage, increasing its pierce from 19 to 23, and doubling its attack speed.
* Wall of Fire —  increases Wall of Fire's MOAB-Class damage from +0 to +6, and deploys Wall of Fires twice as fast.
* Intense Magic — increases Dragon's breath attack pierce from 3 to 5.
* Monkey Sense — increases shimmer decamo radius from 75 to 87.5 units.

Crosspathing with Fireball and Wall of Fire grants the following benefits:
* Fireball —  increases its projectile count from 1 to 3, increasing its damage from 2 to 9 with +24 MOAB-Class damage, increasing its pierce from 19 to 23. Its improved attack cooldown is 1.1 seconds.
* Wall of Fire —  increases Wall of Fire's MOAB-Class damage from +2 to +6, and deploys Wall of Fires twice as fast. Its improved attack cooldown is 3.25 seconds.

{{research|Determine these theories for strategy:
* Maybe the strong seeking bolts getting more pierce is useful for off lane snipes on Quad or something during DDT rounds? In testing the two were performing the same on my end even then. On 98, 520 did more damage. On Ouch and others, that sliver of DDT downtime for 5-2-0 can be a dealbreaker

Archmage deals great damage against blimps over long range with seeking projectiles and the ability to attack through walls, allowing it to perform well even on many Expert maps such as Ravine CHIMPS. It excels against DDT rounds, but lacks enough pierce to easily handle denser rounds, being very weak against Super Ceramics. It pairs well with strong cleanup like The Bloon Solver and blimp stallers that spread out blimps for reducing pierce issues (e.g. Giant Condor).
5-2-0 does more damage to both single targets and clumped blimps. Its Wall of Fire attack should be manually targeted onto blimps as this is a great portion of its damage. Switching target priority between Last and Close helps avoid wasting pierce on Ceramics while cleaning the MOAB rushes that Last tends to leave behind. It requires external Camo detection as its inherent Shimmer is inconsistent for DDTs on split-lane and short maps. 5-0-2 trades off DPS mainly for innate Camo detection and a range bonus, making it suitable versus Phayze.
