The Legend of the Night is too expensive in most scenarios. As a last resort, its black hole ability can sometimes be used in Freeplay, but its long cooldown makes it unreliable (although it can be reduced by Energizer), not to mention sacrificing the tower to the VTSG usually being a better play in most Freeplay setups. However, it can be used in stall setups, powers included, where you can consistently get one use per round so the tower can destroy several BADs. That said, The Legend of the Night is unique in that it is one of the strongest single tower upgrades, placing itself in the niche of Least Tiers challenges, especially in Boss Events.

Legend of the Night is the Super Monkey's path 3 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It grants a Black Hole passive ability, which is activated when a Bloon leaks. This ability prevents all life loss from leaked Bloons (excluding Boss Bloons) for 8 seconds. The ability has a 180 second cooldown, no initial cooldown, its cooldown freezes when sold and doesn't reset if bought again, and can only ever activate up to 2 times per round.

Additionally, Legend of the Night upgrades its main attack:

The editor who added this notice elaborates: Elaborate on how it's good in Least Tiers (don't restate obvious info, write synergies)
This section was last updated for: version 52.2

The Legend of the Night is both one of the costliest and strongest single tower upgrades, thus making it stand out on Least Tiers in Boss Events.

Although not seeing much use against other Bosses, its passive black hole ability is valuable against Phayze in Boss Rush due to its tendency to pull Bloons directly to the exit, and against Bloonarius, whose sludge DDTs can escape quickly on shorter maps. It can also be used in Freeplay, but mind its long cooldown (which can be reduced by Energizer). Furthermore, VTSG deals more damage compared to using both it and The Anti-Bloon, though with careful timing the player can sell VTSG as a last resort, then use LOTN to prolong their high score. This strategy is excellent when paired with stall setups and Time Stops, where the player can consistently get one use per round and destroy several BADs.

2-0-5 is preferred for increased DPS, but is not necessary in the aforementioned Least Tiers or Freeplay stall strategies.

• Buff Pierce increased ― 9 → 21
• Buff Damage increased by 1 ― 4 → 5
• Buff Pierce increased ― 21 → 22
• Buff Improved Darkshift ability added
• Change Darkshift: Now has a sound effect
• Change Darkshift: Can no longer teleport onto regular water if placed on frozen water (bug fix)
• Change Passive ability: Now removes the visual effect if the tower is sold while the ability is active (bug fix)
• Buff Camo Prioritization filter added
Dark Champion has had a ceramic bonus added to deal with super ceramics as it is priced only for use in that lategame range, and Legend has had a price reduction to compensate for a rework to the passive ability preventing chained use in deep freeplay.
— Update notes
• Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $240,000 → $200,000
• Buff Overall cost reduced by $39,900 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
• Buff Now deals +2 damage to Ceramic
• Nerf Passive ability: Cooldown now continues from where it left off after selling and rebuying the tower, instead of resetting it
• Nerf Portal: Now applies after lives are lost (bug)
• Buff Resolved an issue with Legend of the Night not actually preventing life loss (bug fix)
Legend of the Night outside of very specific niche challenges isn’t worth the cost as any more than VTSG fodder
— Update notes
• Buff Damage increased ― 5 → 10
• Buff Ceramic bonus increased ― +2 → +4
• Buff MOAB-class bonus increased ― +3 → +8
Ultravision is a lackluster crosspath with so many other ways to get camo detection cheaper &/or for more towers. [...] We feel Legend of the Night’s base tower is more usable now after recent buffs, so without a total need to lean entirely on the passive ability for use we are increasing this cooldown to prevent some issues.
— Update notes
• Buff Now gains +1 bonus damage to camo bloons
• Nerf Passive ability: Ability cooldown increased ― 120s → 180s
We want the base Super Monkey to feel like more of a ‘weak for the cost’ stepping stone into T3s that feel more like T4s; but the base upgrade really does feel very outdated on this idea, and big crosspath problems exist due to this so we are moving some attack speed out from 2xx into the base upgrade.
— Update notes
• Buff Base attack rate decreased ― 0.03s → 0.0225s
• Note: Plasma Blasts crosspath remains at 0.015s
Higher tiers on the bottom path have struggled to compare to clusters of T3s for a while now. To help with this we thematically really liked the idea of bottom path gaining a ricochet effect, possibly gaining teleport mechanic value repositioning for better ricochet angles, and a big improvement to the tower's camo path identity as higher tiers becomes far more effective at handling DDTs
— Update notes
• Buff Overall cost reduced by $4,445 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
• Buff Damage to Camo increased ― +1 → +4
• Buff Damage to MOAB-class increased ― +8 → +13
• Buff Projectiles now ricochet with a 0.1s delay
Super Monkey projectiles already travel most the map length so that total distance is being reduced and adding back via the range-focused middle crosspath. [...] Legend of the Night’s special passive ability is being failsafe limited to 2 activations per round, per tower.
— Update notes
• Nerf Passive ability: Now has a global max uses per round: 2
• Nerf Projectile speed reduced ― 280 → 200
• Note: Epic Range unchanged at 350
It only scored 5/5 stars instead of a 6/5 in the Hall of Fame due to the high cost, so we’ve lowered that cost to see if this can be re-evaluated.
— Update notes
• Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $200,000 → $165,650
• Buff Darkshift: Now allows teleporting onto ice platforms (undocumented)
• Black Hole: Passive no longer activates by tapping the Activate Selected Tower Ability 2 hotkey (bug fix)
• Note: Could technically activate it but had no meaningful effect other than wasting the ability
We wanted to try shifting more of Legend of the Night’s raw power from pierce into damage, giving it stronger single-target potential.
— Update notes
• Buff Bonus damage to MOAB-Class Bloons increased ― +13 → +25
• Nerf Pierce reduced ― 23 → 16
0-1-5, 1-0-5, 2-0-5
• Nerf Pierce reduced ― 24 → 17
0-2-5
• Nerf Pierce reduced ― 26 → 19
1-0-5
• Buff Projectile radius increased ― 5 units → 8 units (undocumented)
2-0-5
• Buff Projectile radius increased ― 6 units → 9 units (undocumented)
• Buff Passive ability: Now triggers when Frontier Legends-exclusive Bloons leak (bug fix)
