Megalodon, like its lower tiers, has a ton of raw power for the cost, but is limited by water placement and downtime. Its thrash having incredibly strong damage, high pierce and a knockback second only to Monarch of Storms makes it an incredibly good option for defeating Boss Bloons, able to outperform competitors such as M.A.D. and Flying Fortress. Attack speed buffs (namely Overclock) are very valuable for it and stall towers such as a Symphonic Resonance can help greatly by covering downtime. The high cost prevents Megalodon from being a viable CHIMPS option, but it can be potent if playing beyond round 100 as it can instakill BADs up to round 200.

The optimal merge for a Megalodon is max power with 6 Great Whites, on top of the 3 Orcas required to build the Megalodon. If possible, those 3 Orcas can be sold with Favored Trades and replaced with Great Whites, which are far more efficient for merging into a Megalodon. Using 6 Orcas to merge is only necessary when space, tower count, or tiers are limited and a Power 132 Megalodon is needed. Otherwise, it is not worth for how much investment versus power gain is obtained.
