Bloons (also called Bloons Console to distinguish it from the original) is a console game in the Bloons series that was first announced on the Ninja Kiwi Blog on 16th June 2009, developed by Bloober Team and published by Hands-On Mobile.[4] In that blog post, it was announced that Bloons would be ported to non-iOS Phones, Xbox Live Arcade, DSi, and the PSP under Hands-On Mobile. The PSP port was be the first console port for Bloons, as it released alongside other minis titles as the first batch of Playstation Minis on the 1st of October 2009.[1] At an unknown time around 2010, Bloons on PSP would receive an update that would make the graphics more in line with the original Flash version of Bloons.
The Wii version of Bloons on WiiWare released at some point in early February 2010.[2] On the 28th of May 2010, the Bloons port for DSi was released.[3] On the 14th of July 2010, Playstation posted the top ten selling PSP Minis, where Bloons ranked 5th out of a total of 85 minis titles.[5] The non-iOS phone and Xbox Live Arcade ports were silently canceled, resulting in the DSi version being the last port of Bloons handled by Bloober Team and Hands-On Mobile.
Differences between Versions
Differences from the Flash version
- Different control scheme, instead of the power of a throw oscillating over time when holding the left mouse, power is instead adjustable with the up and down buttons.
- Unlike both the Flash and iOS versions, players can maintain the angle and charge of a throw without throwing a dart.
- Another dart can be thrown even when another dart still exists.
- Offline level editor built into the game, letting the player create 20 custom levels.
- Unlimited Darts cannot progress the player onto the next level, so the next level can only be accessed by beating the previous level without using Unlimited Darts.
- Different artstyle from the Flash version.
- Progress reset button that lets the player reset their progress.
Differences between PSP V2 and PSP V1
- Graphics for bloons and the monkey resemble the original Flash version more in Version 2 than in the launch version of Bloons (PSP).
- Main Menu ui arrangement is visually different.
