Ultraboost is the Engineer Monkey's path 2 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It replaces the Engineer Monkey's Overclock Activated Ability with the Ultraboost ability, which on top of the Overclock effect, permanently reduces attack cooldown by 4% and increases range by 2.5% on Villages. This buff stacks up to 10 times additively on a single tower. The permanent cooldown decrease also applies to Banana Farms, making them produce more cash per round permanently. Ultraboost and Overclock buffs do not stack with each other, though both stack with the permanent boosts. The Ultraboost has a 10s shorter cooldown than the tier 4 ability at 35s, and the buff lasts 60s on all towers regardless of tier. The Ultraboost ability can only be used 10 times per round by a single Engineer Monkey, unlike Overclock which can be used without limit. Ultraboost's cooldown also resets to full when this tower is upgraded.

In addition to the ability changes, Ultraboost gains +15 pierce on its main attack, and +10 pierce on its foam.

Strategy

Due to its high price, Ultraboost is rarely viable in CHIMPS Mode and most standard game modes. However, it is invaluable during Boss events and Freeplay due to the strong permanent buffs it provides to towers over time. Stalling may be important to acquire as many stacks on towers as possible, though it's still capped by its 10 uses per round.

The most powerful towers such as (Vengeful) True Sun Gods should be given ×10 Ultraboost stacks as soon as possible, along with strong tier 5 towers such as M.A.D and Super Mines. Ultraboosting a Banana Central increases its cash production substantially, which is especially useful during Boss events. Note that Lych steals both the permanent and temporary buff of towers in range when it absorbs buffs, which heals the boss. If using Ultraboost against Lych, try to keep boosted towers far away from Lych during tiers 1-4, and do not use Ultraboost at all during tier 5.

The following table shows the increase in production of different Banana Farms after using Ultraboost, and if they have the Overclock active or not.

  • Nerf Ability: attack speed buff reduced ― +100% → +66.7% (does not affect Farms or Village range)
  • Buff Ability: now affects submerged Monkey Subs
  • Neutral Ability: can no longer target Phoenixes (which does nothing)
  • Nerf Ability: permanent attack speed buff reduced ― +10% → +6.67% (max +80%)
  • Buff Ultraboost: will no longer trigger while techbotted if no target was previously set
  • Nerf Ability: No longer causes Pat Fusty's Big Squeeze to activate more than once (bug fix)
Continuing our efforts to make crosspaths meaningful and fit the style of each path more solidly, a number of crosspath and base level balance shifts were made.
— Update notes
  • Buff Ability: permanent stacking buff now applies immediately upon ability use (instead of on expiration)
1-5-0, 2-5-0
  • Buff Larger Service Area crosspath now increases Sentry range by +4
Engineer is quite poor in terms of crosspathing, so we’ve added crosspath benefits to Cleansing Foam [...] We’ve been somewhat unhappy with how Overclock sits in the game for a while and especially how the interaction with tower cost causes levelling heroes naturally to be far advantageous over purchasing upgrades when this is already underused. We have made an attempt to rework these issues by moving it to a tier-based system rather than price.
— Update notes
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $150 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
0-5-1, 0-5-2
  • Buff Foam attack: Pierce with Oversized Nails increased ― 10 → 15
We’ve added a pierce & speed boost to Overclock’s base upgrade and lowered the cooldown on Ultraboost to allow the possibility for it to achieve full uptime as a freeplay tower and get its stacks up faster.
— Update notes
  • Buff Pierce increased ― 3 → 30
  • Buff Ultraboost: ability cooldown reduced ― 45s → 35s
  • Buff Ultraboost: initial cooldown reduced ― 15s → 5s (undocumented)
  • Buff Projectile speed increased ― 375 → 750
1-5-0, 2-5-0
  • Buff Deconstruction: now grants all Sentries +1 damage to Fortified & MOAB
we have also re-envisioned the ‘Larger Service’ crosspath as giving smarter service as well in the form for targeting for Bloontrap & Cleansing Foam
— Update notes
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $50 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Foam attack: Manual targeting option added
  • Foam attack: Now counts damage when popping Lead Bloons (bug fix)
a large decrease to Ultraboost price.
— Update notes
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $120,000 → $105,000
    • Buff Overall cost reduced by $14,950 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
0-5-2
  • Buff Pin crosspath allows Cleansing Foam to slow Bloons by 50% for 2 seconds
  • Buff Pin crosspath allows Cleansing Foam to slow all MOAB-class (including BADs) by 50% for 2 seconds (bug)
1-5-0, 2-5-0
  • Buff Foam makes Sentries shoot Foamy nails that strip properties
032 Engineer Cleansing Foam now works correctly on all MOAB Class targets - hope you enjoyed that temporary treat
— Update notes
0-5-2
  • Nerf Cleansing Foam: no longer slows MOAB-class bloons (including BADs) with Pin crosspath (bug fix)
0-5-2
  • Buff Cleansing Foam slow stacks on a single target (bug)
  • Nerf Ability: now limited to 3 uses per round
0-5-2
  • Nerf Foam slow effect no longer stacks on a single target (bug fix)
The MOAB offense of top path lacks for a mainly dps tower that is quite complex to use [...] the 320 crosspath will now be able to double dip on the Fortified & MOAB damage bonuses that it gains. Cleansing Foam is only seeing a slight tweak to help it be more viable if you want to attempt it as 'main camo detection’, and this mainly fixes some issues in ABR games allowing it to catch quick initial camo spawns.
— Update notes
  • Buff All attacks: Now gains 1s of 4x rate on round start
1-5-0, 2-5-0
  • Buff Sentry: Deconstruction's bonus damage to MOAB-Class Bloons and Fortified Bloons are no longer mutually exclusive
Overclock's considerable longer duration benefit on lower tiers currently serves little purpose and only leads to weirdness in upgrading boosted towers, so for now we’d rather minimize this on the early cases that don’t serve much purpose .
— Update notes
  • Nerf Ability: no longer has a 1.75× duration bonus for tier 0 towers
  • Nerf Ability: no longer has a 1.5× duration bonus for tier 1 towers
  • Nerf Ability: no longer has a 1.25× duration bonus for tier 2 towers
  • Neutral Ability: Lasts 60s on heroes regardless of level (undocumented)
Engineer Ultraboost is limited to viable use in high-farming situations due to its cost, and while the buff is great when applied to strong towers, we find it too expensive for an upgrade that only adds a buff to other towers, especially in games where cost is the primary focus.
— Update notes
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $105,000 → $72,000
Some minor QoL buffs for Ultraboost as it’s very expensive over multiple T4s.
— Update notes
  • Buff  Ultraboost cleansing foam pierce ― 10 → 30
  • Buff  Ultraboost ability now has full duration on T4s ― 0.75x → 1x
  • Buff  Ultraboost ability now has full duration on T5s ― 0.5x → 1x
The Ultraboost ability is now starting on cooldown to put a limit on buy’n’resell issues, but this is to ease up on the use per round limit which was causing frustration.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Ability: now starts with its full cooldown instead of carrying over Overclock's cooldown
  • Buff Ability: max uses per round increased ― 3 → 10
Now that Ultraboost has an initial cooldown we are again allowing it to be used between rounds.
— Update notes
  • Buff Ultraboost ability: can now be activated during the break between rounds
This was becoming annoying screen clutter with large numbers of sentries, and feels unnecessary when you can overclock the engineer itself to create more sentries instead.
— Update notes
  • Neutral Overclock and Ultraboost abilities no longer target Engineer sentries
Really only one major change here; a rebalancing to how the 2xx Crosspath applies across various engineer upgrades, and some base stats being changed to accommodate fitting this.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Foam: Pierce decreased ― 30 → 24
0-5-1, 0-5-2
  • Buff Foam: Pierce increased ― 35 → 36
Overclock’s Village range bonus always felt like an odd special case, and now that there is a proper dedicated range bonus ability the combined range this grants for villages ended up being overpowered, after consideration we didn’t want to jump straight to deleting the ultraboost stacking tech here but have lowered the range bonuses from Overclock.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Overclock buff: Range bonus on Monkey Villages decreased ― +25% → +10%
    • Note: Also affects the temporary Ultraboost effect. Does not affect Paragon's Power Glove (+25%)
  • Nerf Ultraboost buff: Range bonus on Monkey Villages per stack decreased ― +2.5% → +1.5%
