Carl the Gem and attack speed

Where is your source on Carl the Gem's speed effect? Are you looking at the game's code here or is this observations you are making in game?

If the attack speed is in fact tied with how much speed bonuses are applied to the character, then the "bonus" speed from Ferocity and Attack Speed (upgrade) in theory should not in fact improve the Carl the Gem attack speed, as they instead SET the attack cooldown to a value and not add a speed modifier.
