The Tack Shooter (Tack Tower in Bloons Tower Defense) is a tower in the Bloons TD series, introduced in Bloons Tower Defense. Inspired by the Tack Bloon from the Bloons series, the Tack Shooter is included in every game in the Bloons TD series, except for Bloons Pop! and Bloons Adventure Time TD.

Gameplay

Bloons TD series

Tack Shooter shoots 8 tacks per shot in a fixed direction. It has a short range and a moderately slow attack speed. Tack Shooter has been relatively consistent throughout the series, although its Blade Shooter, Ring of Fire, and Tack Sprayer upgrades have received the most rearrangements. Throughout the entire series, the Tack Shooter has upgrades for attack speed and range, and it only introduced upgrades with more than 8 projectiles since BTD5.

When first introduced to Bloons Tower Defense and Bloons Tower Defense 2, the Tack Shooter has two upgrades, improving its attack speed and/or range. Added to Bloons TD 3 is an upgrade that further increases range, plus the introduction of the Blade Shooter upgrade as the successor of the speed upgrade. Bloons TD 4 and mobile version introduces the Ring of Fire upgrade, which switches tacks for flame rings that do rapid area damage.

In Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, mobile version, Bloons TD Battles, mobile version, and Bloons Monkey City, the Tack Shooter returns with two upgrade paths. The first path introduces the Tack Sprayer upgrade and primarily focuses on high DPS. The second path is the range-oriented upgrade path, with extra pierce from the Blade Shooter and Blade Maelstrom. Its specialty building is the Tack Research Center.

In Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, the Tack Shooter is classified as a Primary tower. The first path revolves around maximized attack speed and high damage, evolving into a fiery theme starting from the Hot Shots upgrade, replacing the role that Tack Sprayer has in BTD5. The second path is the pierce-and-range hybrid. The third path relegates to maximizing the amount of projectiles per second, with additional focus on single-target damage, including the Tack Sprayer upgrade. In BTD6, it has a Paragon called the Crucible of Steel and Flame.

Bloons Card Storm

"Tack Shooter" is a Monkey type shared by five Primary-class cards, including the basic Tack Shooter. All of them are defenders, and most of them have high ammo.

•  Tack Shooter gains ATK during the opponent's turn.
•  Extra Range Tack Shooter gains even more ATK during the opponent's turn if the player has no Gold left.
•  Even More Tacks is a temporary defender that cannot attack normally and consumes all Gold the player has when played, gaining ammo depending on the amount consumed.
•  Tack Sprayer is similar to the Tack Shooter, but costs more, has more ATK and ammo, gains more ATK during the opponent's turn, and takes longer to reload.
•  Blade Maelstrom gains ATK during the opponent's turn and deals damage to all enemy Bloons each time the player ends their turn.

Bloons Blitz

Tack Shooter returns to Bloons Blitz as "Tack Shooter Monkey" as a monkey-operated machine that runs around and regularly shoots tacks.

Other appearances

• While not specifically a Tack Shooter, Wildberry Princess from Bloons Adventure Time TD has an identical method of attack to the Tack Shooter.
• The Tack Shooter was considered to appear in Bloons Pop!, but was cut from the final game. However, the tack mini powerup on a Bloon has a similar effect to the Tack Shooter.

General information

Appearance

The base Tack Shooter is a pink cylindrical turret that has 8 barrels equally spaced around its body, with a crossed two-tack emblem on its lid, and reinforced by thick metallic or metal-like fortifications for its base and above the barrels. Each barrel is cylindrical and appear to be made of steel, all supported by each short barrel sleeve from the Tack Shooter's body.

Tack Monkey

Tack Monkey is a monkey who operates the Tack Shooter. This monkey is not visible unless it peeks out of the cover of the Tack Shooter, revealing its upper body at most. Clothes are absent from the basic Tack Monkey. However, the Tack Monkeys for the Ring of Fire and Inferno Ring wear fire insulant suits, as seen in Battles 2. The Crucible of Steel and Flame's Tack Monkey is briefly visible when jumping into its machine after creating that Paragon, with it additionally being displayed in the Paragon's portrait.

Many games in the modern generations feature cameos of the Tack Monkey:

Tack Monkey also features in the "MOAB and Tack Shooter Pin Pack" item from Makeship.
