It's okay in the early-game, though it's best used for crosspaths and as a transition to [[Wall of Fire (BTD6)|Wall of Fire]]. Specific to the fireball attack, it's a cheap source of lead-popping and also has decent burst damage when used for [[Archmage (BTD6)|Archmage]] or [[Prince of Darkness (BTD6)|Prince of Darkness]], however the full strength of middle crosspaths requires [[Wall of Fire (BTD6)|Wall of Fire]] and should be upgraded for higher tier Wizards.
