Ice Shards is the Ice Monkey's path 1 tier 3 upgrade in Bloons TD Battles 2. It adds an ice shards status effect to Bloons it freezes that soaks through 2 layers (3 with Deep Freeze), but will not trigger it from the initial freezing damage. The duration of the ice shards effect is equal to the duration of the freeze. Popping a Bloon affected by Ice Shards will produce 3 shards of ice that deal 1 damage with 3 pierce, 120° apart within 360°. Shards cannot be affected by external buffs to damage or pierce. Shards have the shatter damage type, which pops Frozen but not Lead. Only towers that can pop Frozen can trigger this ice shards effect, since it requires to pop the Bloon layer. Ice Shards can trigger its own ice shards if crosspathed with Re-Freeze, although this requires external attack speed buffs.
