Primary Expertise is the Monkey Village's path 1 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It improves the buff given to Primary towers in its range to increase pierce by +3 instead of +1, provide free tier 1 and 2 upgrades, and reduce ability cooldowns by 25%.
This upgrade adds a Mega Ballista attack that has infinite range, has 100 pierce, and does 10 Normal-type damage, +270 Ceramic damage, and +270 MOAB-class damage, with an attack cooldown of 2.5 seconds. It can naturally detect Camo Bloons. After hitting a target, it can ricochet between up to 90 units between targets, with a short delay between ricochets.

Strategy

Primary Expertise can be used to support strategies involving heavy use of Primary towers by increasing their pierce and further decreasing their ability cooldowns. However, outside of allowing certain T5 abilities to have more than full uptime with Energizer (e.g. 2-5-0 Glue Storm, 0-5-2 Super Maelstrom), this support usually isn't worth the price tag, and the village is often better kept as Primary Mentoring or Primary Training with the cash spent on other support towers. In Boss Bloon Events or Freeplay, Primary Expertise's cooldown reduction is valuable in reducing the cooldown of Glue Storm.
Providing free tier 2 upgrades allows for very cheap spam of tier 2 or 3 Primary towers inside its range. Candidates for this strategy include MOAB Mauler or Cluster Bombs spam strategies.
The Mega Ballista attack on the Primary Expertise can one-shot Super Ceramic Bloons but is slow-firing and its seeking isn't always accurate. It performs worse against MOAB-Class Bloons due to its large pierce penalty. This attack should not be relied upon to do any meaningful damage or cleanup, and the ballista kills any end-of-round stall.
