There are multiple kinds of fish that can appear. Each type of fish has a different movement pattern in the minigame. There are also trash items, which are functionally identical to fish aside from having very little Bananite value. The player can see their collection of previously captured fish, and the game keeps track of the heaviest one the player caught for each one. The player can also earn a black border for a fish by catching it a certain number of times.

In addition to the moving pattern of each fish, their speed also determines the overall difficulty of the minigame and there are a few things that can change it. The weight of the fish can modify it by a factor of 5% to 20% (precise mechanics are currently unknown). If [[Sheriff]] uses the Waders body equipment, the speed is reduced 5%. And finally, shiny fish are also 30% faster than their regular counterparts.
In addition to the moving pattern of each fish, their speed also determines the overall difficulty of the minigame and there are a few things that can change it. First, the heaviest fishes are faster: the ones in the 80th to 95th percentile are 15% faster and those between the 95th to 100th percentile are 25% faster. If [[Sheriff]] uses the Waders body equipment, the speed is reduced 5%. And finally, shiny fish are also 30% faster than their regular counterparts.
