Adora, High Priestess (BCS): Difference between revisions

Adora hit bolt on sentinel when activated, she heals but then the sentinel drops health. Say you got a 400 health Adora. You get to 500 but whoops, 470 instead

Also do summarize about aggro, midrange, and control adora
Adora's kit revolves around anti-burn tech that results in her being a very niche pick in competitive games. Her Sun Shield forces opponents to spend more time developing power in their OTK, which can be helpful in control scenarios against opponents like Zee Jay and Quincy's OTK decks. She also has great anti-burn deck potential with the ability to limit damage from early 0 delay Bloons such as Pink Bloons and heal back up to full health with her Ultimate Sacrifice ability.

Adora is somewhat flexible across all stages of the game. She is able to defend decently well, provided enough Bloontonium is generated for her abilities. Her standout ability is Sun Shield, as no other Hero can directly handle leaking Bloons, besides Obyn Greenfoot's massive shield growth. Most of Adora's hero-exclusive cards aren't vital to maximize her power, though Divination and Salvation are decent.

Adora fits the best for midrange and can be good for Control against less aware players. Aggressive early-game Adora strategies should focus on outlasting aggro decks, which involves an Adora midrange deck. For control, maximize Bloontonium gains, and build orbs fast enough while having enough resources to defend against the opponent's rushes. For all decks, having enough Bloontonium for Sun Shield is very important.
Outside of these interactions, she is often outclassed by other control heroes such as Obyn Greenfoot, who can build up a respectable amount of shield to resist other OTK decks.

Adora Midrange decks often use Bloons like Soulstealer Bloon, MOAB, and BFB to overwhelm the opponent with huge pushes. If Adora wants to, she can also run Bloons like Double Ceramic or Healing Bloon as targets for Max Heal. Control Adora decks can be run with Bloons like Rainbow Bloon or Camo Regrow Rainbow Bloon to maximize her Bloontonium gain; however the variety of late-game cards that can disable Adora's abilities or bypass them makes this a riskier strategy.

Adora is very dependent on managing her abilities. Thus, she is still vulnerable to an opponent's finishers when combined with any card that stops her Sun Shield, such as Ability Ban, or anything that removes Bloontonium (e.g. Bloontonium Leak). Also, she lacks much individual damage, so she's vulnerable to Armor-centred or Tempo decks who can heal off the damage she deals or ignore it entirely when at lower orb amounts. Overall, Adora is one of the weakest Heroes in competitive gameplay due to the variety of cards that counter her abilities. In casual play, Adora is stronger but still often not worth it over other heroes that can do what she wants to do better.<!--casual players may see adora as OP, but...-->

Tips
;Playing as Adora
;Playing with Adora
*Adora heavily depends on Bloontonium to maximize her power. Most Adora decks should include plenty of cards that maximize Bloontonium, with many bloon cards, and preferably in groups of 3 or 5 such as Bloontonium Gas Bloons. Bloon cards in groups of 8 (e.g. Rainbow Bloon) are also beneficial to unlock Sun Shield. Similarly, bringing Bloontonium Miners and/or Mine Supervisors to build up constant Bloontonium may be beneficial, but be wary of the low damage when attempting to use Miners.
*Do not be afraid to get rid of your sun shield passive if you suspect no danger will come that turn.
*Avoid using Ultimate Sacrifice if many of the opponent's bloons are at 0 delay, unless enough Bloontonium is obtained afterwards to activate the Sun Shield passive.
*Keep weak monkeys in hand (or on board if needed early), such as Barrel of Monkeys, to use as fodder for sacrifices when needed. This will make your overall defense weaker, but allow room for healing up damage otherwise prevented by an extra Monkey.
*The minimum required amount of Bloontonium for Sun Shield to trigger on each leaking bloon: 8, 11, 14.<!--yes, mentioning numbers is important for strategy, as simple as it looks...-->
*Sacrificing for orbs is generally not worth it alone, as it leaves you vulnerable until you get her sun shield up again. Try to time sacrifices to heal damage taken, and use Orbs of Light to deal damage to incoming Bloons if already full on Bloontonium.
*Adora's Ultimate Sacrifice also adds an empty space for Expert Negotiator to force an enemy Monkey to join Adora's side.
*If Adora already has max orbs, the only sensible reason to use the Ultimate Sacrifice instead of 3 Orbs of Light abilities is to open space for Expert Negotiator, and sometimes for healing.
*Sun Shield helps protect against instant damage that Burn decks like to use such as Pink Bloons or Quick Readied Double Yellows. This combined with her healing from Ultimate Sacrifice can make Adora solid at dealing with Burn decks.

;Against Adora
;Facing against Adora
*Adora can be difficult to deal with if your deck isn't built to counter her in some ways, or if you do not know how to pressure her effectively. The efficiency of her abilities gets stronger the more Adora's Ultimate Sacrifice is used, so going later with heroes not built for Control or OTK can result in Adora becoming too strong to stop.
*OTK decks must factor in the damage done to their OTK Bloon by Sun Shield, ranging from 60 to 240 damage depending on how many orbs Adora has. Triple Threat Bloon OTK decks can build up shield to prevent damage, while Rad Bloon OTK decks may be forced to use Double Trouble to duplicate a 0 delay Rad to deal enough damage.
*Adora relies on gaining a ton of Bloontonium to maximize her power like mentioned above. Cards like Bloontonium Leak, Haunting Night and Bloontonium Saboteur can harm her bloontonium supply or lower her bloontonium below the range of Sun Shield. Use Bloontonium Leak on turns where you can OTK Adora.
*Cards such as Haunting Night can prevent Adora from activating her Sun Shield that turn.
*Against the miner type cards, you can use Bed Time on Bloontonium Miner, or Shrink on Mine Supervisor, although be wary that Adora can still sacrifice the Baby Monkey made from Shrink. Alternatively, both miner cards having low DPT means that attacking Adora when she places down miners is an effective way to deal with her while not requiring any removal.
*Adora can only hit at most 3 Bloons with her Sun Shield. This allows certain aggro decks such as Swarm decks to absorb hits while the large Spooky Bloon or Bolstered Bloon hits her unscathed.
*Adora's Orbs of light deal 30 damage per orb. It attacks random targets, so Adora hitting a strong Bloon can be unreliable if the board is more full. Spamming weak Bloons like Red Bloons can reduce the chances of Adora's orbs hitting what you don't want hit.
*Orbs of Light having random targeting and Sun Shield only attacking leaking Bloons makes high health Bloons like BFB effective at dealing with Adora when combined with more high health Bloons. Healing Bloon and Prince of Darkness are also devastating for orb damage output, as two orb attacks can be nearly negated with the healing.
*Against Orbs of Light, a Bloon with Armor can take less damage from the orbs, reducing the value from the ability. Don't rely on Armor countering Adora, as smart Adora players will run Armor Piercing Monkeys (e.g. MOAB Mauler).<!--maulers are common with adora bc they can counter armor and large bloons-->
*Ability Ban is the cheapest way to prevent Adora from using Sun Shield. Use Ability Ban when you have an OTK set up vs Adora.
*Triple Threat Bloon's shield gain upon using Powers and Monkeys can make it easy to beat Adora with. Combine it with a Barrel of Monkeys, and a Triple Threat Bloon can leak through a maxed out Sun Shield without taking damage. Triple Threat Bloon OTK decks are very effective against Adora.
*Ultimate Sacrifice is Adora's strongest ability. She can sacrifice a tower with bad DPT and heal herself for 150 HP and add another orb of light. Attacking her with Aggro decks before she can get an Ultimate Sacrifice is critical, as after one Sacrifice she may become too defensively powerful to beat with Aggro.
*Adora can be outlasted by other heroes due to the variety of cards that can deal with her by either draining her Bloontonium or denying her abilities. Her weak signatures also do not help, with only Salvation and Divination being worth noting as cards to look out for against her.
