Quad is an Expert map in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 6.0. It takes place in a garden with four entrances and exits in a loop.
Layout
[edit | edit source]Quad has 4 entrances and exits, and all of them are active every round. The Bloons travel through 2 quadrants of the whole map's path before exiting. Each path overlaps with approximately half of 2 other paths, and all exits are at the same spot as an entrance, making it often difficult to see when Bloons are leaking.
There are 4 trusses that block line of sight, make all Bloons (including blimps) immune to all attacks while under them, and are removable for $1500 each. Removing the trusses also remove the small green bush in front of them and within the track's envelopment, clearing up more space for towers. There is a pond in the middle that allows water-based strategies.
Strategy
[edit | edit source]At first glance, Quad may seem relatively easy for an Expert map, thanks to its abundance of placements, central pond, and relatively long length compared to other Expert maps. In reality, Quad is a True Expert map, and it is by consensus the third hardest map in BTD6, after Bloody Puddles and Ravine. The difficulty of this map stems from the large distance between its lanes, making it difficult to cover all of them with a single high-damage tower, and the overlapping nature of its tracks that hide leaking Bloons. Therefore, optimal strategies on Quad generally involve using separate clusters of defenses for the top and bottom portions of the map.
Recommended towers and upgrades
[edit | edit source]| Name | Portrait | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Sauda | Due to how Quad's lanes overlap, Sauda's Sword Charge ability can damage all Bloons twice. Her main attack, when coupled with stuns such as Relentless Glue, can deal with half of the lanes relatively effectively, leaving only the other half to be concerned about. The fast leveling on expert maps further increases her power on this map due to the high boosts provided by her higher levels. With Giant Condor, she becomes even stronger on this map, as many more Bloons can be moved into the lane that she deals the most damage to. | |
| Spiked Balls, Spiked Mines | One reason Quad is one of the hardest maps in the game is how its lanes overlap, making it easy to suddenly lose to Bloons leaking without being noticed. Spiked Balls and Spiked Mines alleviate this problem by tanking leaking Bloons from two lanes for each, largely turning Quad into a two-lane map instead and giving extra peace of mind for Black Borders, where leaking Bloons can now be easily identified as those who breach the spikes. | |
| Glaive Lord | After the version 43.0 buff, Glaive Lord has become very strong on Quad. The path layout of Quad allows Glaive Lord's rangs to repeatedly bounce all over the map, dealing massive amounts of damage, in addition to the spinning rangs very effectively covering half of the lanes. | |
| Giant Condor | Condor's ability to move many blimps into the same lane effectively halves the amount of lanes on Quad that one has to worry about on most rounds, greatly benefiting strategies involving limited-range towers/heroes like Sauda and Overdrives. Condor is also very useful as a regular support tower, stalling rounds very well and moving blimps near the exit back to the start. |
