Experience (commonly shortened to XP) is a resource in Bloons Monkey City, gaining XP is required to rank up to a higher City Level to unlock new [[Building]s and game features such as game events and Monkey Knowledge. XP is primarily earned by capturing Tiles [fn 1], constructing and upgrading buildings, and researching upgrades. XP can also be rewarded by completing quests.

Once the level of the Monkey City has increased, it cannot decrease, however demolishing buildings will create an XP debt. The amount of XP granted from the building's construction will be deducted[fn 2] from the total XP gainedBloons Monkey City (Flash) or increasing the required XP to level up.Bloons Monkey City (multiplatform)

Footnotes

  1. In the mobile Version, there is a bug where successfully defending a MvM attack can grant XP despite not capturing the tile. It is currently unknown exactly what causes this and it is not a reliable source of XP.
  2. In the mobile Version, the base XP gained is subtracted from the total, allowing XP to be gained infinitely by constructing a Resource Building, completing an upgrade on that building, then demolishing it for a net gain of XP.
