This article is about the mode in Bloons TD 5. For the feature in Bloons TD Battles 2, see Monkey Mastery. For Arcane Mastery, see Arcane Mastery (disambiguation).

Mastery (or Masteries[1]) is a modifier mode in the mobile version and console version of Bloons TD 5, introduced to the mobile version in version 3.0 and available in the console version since launch. It increases the overall difficulty of the game, adding an extra layer to most Bloons and reducing cash gained from popping Bloons. This mode has increased rewards and separate medals. It is not playable in Apopalypse, Deflation, Sandbox, or Co-op, or with FastTrack. Events (e.g. Golden Bloon, Totem Event, or Challenge Monkey) are also incompatible with Mastery mode.

The player unlocks Mastery mode for Beginner tracks by earning at least one medal on 39 tracks and all medals (except the Ten medal) on 17 Beginner tracks. Other Track Types require unlocking the previous Mastery level and having all medals on more tracks. Each Mastery level unlocked also unlocks an extra tier of upgrades in the Monkey Lab.

Modifiers

edit

In Mastery mode, all Bloons have one additional layer (except ZOMGs), including in Freeplay. The player also earns reduced cash per pop.

Trivia

edit
  • Internally, Mastery mode simply adds 1 to each Bloon's rank. As a result, round 85 is completely unchanged.
    • Additionally, when the Golden Bloon was released, it was considered 1 rank above the Ceramic Bloon, causing a bug where Ceramics were upgraded to Golden Bloons instead of MOABs.
