Version 4.3 is a major update to Bloons TD Battles 2. It introduced a new map Up On The Roof, released Hero Challenge to all users and some redesigned Hero UI, alongside bug fixes and balance changes.

The crossbow is the least used of the Dart Monkey’s upgrade paths. The Juggernaut and Super Monkey Fan Club both have their niche with high pierce group popping and concentrated single target damage respectively. We are buffing the Crossbow Monkey to give it a place somewhere between the two with solid pierce and damage and some slight seeking to ensure it makes the most out of its pierce.

The bottom path sub is often neglected for the top path Reactor and the middle path First Strike upgrades. While this damage buff may look minor, it stacks quickly due to the high attack speed of the bottom path sub and the xx5 Sub Commander’s ability to double the damage of other subs. We hope this will make the bottom path sub a more appealing choice for DPS on maps where space isn’t an issue while preserving the middle path’s identity as elite MOAB stopping power.

The top path buccaneer does not currently see a lot of use, either as a crosspath or as a main upgrade, so we want to add some buffs to make it a more appealing option. The xx5 Trade Empire’s limit of 20 Merchantmen came from BTD6 and is very difficult to reach in the smaller maps of Battles 2. We are therefore increasing the buff while lowering the cap to make it easier to get the full value of the upgrade in a smaller space.

The randomness of the Mortar has never been popular and the xx1 upgrade has often felt like a tax to remove RNG than an upgrade in its own right. The new Dynamic Targeting upgrade will hopefully give interesting crosspath options to the other upgrades, allowing the Mortar to easily focus fire on strong MOABs or maximise the impact of stunning by automatically aiming for the densest cluster of bloons. Manual targeting will likely still remain the most consistent option for effects like Signal Flare and Burny Stuff that just want to hit every bloon once.

The Grand Saboteur is the weakest of the Ninja Monkey’s tier 5 upgrades. We are bringing over a popular balance change from BTD6 in order to improve its usage, although we are limiting it to only Ninjas in the Grand Saboteur’s range rather than a map wide buff to limit its interaction with other, more powerful combos.

Super Mines is by far the least used of Spike Factory’s tier 5 upgrades, overshadowed by Carpet of Spikes and Permaspike. We are making it more affordable while also buffing its pierce to make it more capable of dealing with its main weakness of tight ZOMGs.

The dense bloon targeting we added for Mortar in this update felt like it would be a good fit for Biker Bones as well, allowing him to affect more bloons with the stun and fire effects of his ability and further distinguish him from Striker Jones.

Etienne’s ability is extremely effective at clearing up early game rushes. We are increasing the cooldown to ensure that Etienne players cannot rely on it entirely and still need to spend on their early game defence.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed issue where Adora could appear visually as Dark Adora. Dark Adora does not feature in Battles 2.
  • Fixed issue where collectables picked up by the Banana Farmer would leave their visual on screen.
  • Fixed issue where selling a x4x or x5x Dart Monkey while the SMFC/PMFC ability was active would cause the affected monkeys to visually revert to Dart Monkeys while still attacking like Supermonkeys. The ability now persists both visually and mechanically after the sale.
  • Fixed issue that would occasionally cause the game to think that the user account was already online and prevent it signing in.
  • Fixed issue where monkeys could not be placed on the 5xx Buccaneer’s platform if there was another monkey behind it.
  • Fixed issue where monkeys could be placed on the same space if a 5xx Buccaneer was sacrificed to a Sun Temple.
  • Fixed issue where the Plasma Bloon Boost was using the wrong fullscreen effect.

  • Fixed incorrect Chinese translation for “Nexus Creator Code”.
  • Fixed xx3 Spike Factory spikes clipping into the floor of some maps.
  • Fixed very long usernames displaying incorrectly in game.
  • Fixed issue where placing the Sniper at a particular point on Bloonstone Quarry broke its field of view.
  • Fixed issue where MOABs would move sideways if they are hit with a knockback effect the moment they are spawned.
  • Fixed issue where Level 6 Etienne was allowing Ice Monkey to always freeze the zebra children of rainbows, rather than only 25% of the time.
  • Fixed the xx4 Dark Knight’s visual aura not matching the range of its teleport ability.
  • Fixed some Monkey Subs not playing their firing animation.
  • Fixed Bonnie’s Minecarts sometimes drawing over the top of 3D objects when they should be behind them.
  • Fixed the Sniper Monkey’s paintball trail cosmetic not appearing on 250 Snipers.
  • Fixed the Banana Farm’s Banana Split weapon skin not appearing on 310 Banana Farms.

  • Fixed Silver Darts Dart Monkey weapon skin not applying to crossbow bolts and spiked balls.
  • Fixed x42 Spike Factory firing too many spikes from its ability if activated at the very start of a round.
