Bloons Tower Defense 2 (also known as BTD2 or Bloons TD 2) is the sequel to the original Bloons Tower Defense, and the prequel to Bloons Tower Defense 3. It released on October 18, 2007, two months after the release of Bloons TD 1. It introduces game difficulties to the Bloons TD series. It also introduces Lead and Rainbow Bloons; a new tower, the Boomerang Thrower; and Road Items, items that can be placed directly on the path of the Bloons.

Road Items
Road Spikes: A pile of spikes that can pop up to 10 bloons when placed on the track. They can't pop Lead Bloons.
Monkey Glue: A glob of glue that slows bloons as they pass through. They can slow down up to 20 bloons.
