The Ninja Kiwi Archive is a free software application containing most Adobe Flash-based web browser games that were formerly hosted on Ninja Kiwi's website. It includes all Bloons Flash games except the level editors, Who Wants To Be A Bloonionaire?, and Bloons Blast. It was released on Steam in 2020 exclusively for Windows, then DRM-free downloadable versions were made available on Ninja Kiwi's website for both Windows and macOS later on (which was later removed from their site). It was created as a way of preserving Ninja Kiwi's Flash games in preparation for the end of life of the Adobe Flash Player at the end of 2020, though the online functionality of some games is reduced due to their servers being shut down on 30 April 2022.[2] It requires downloading a standalone Flash player and an internet connection to play.
Supported and unsupported features
[edit | edit source]The Ninja Kiwi Archive supports logging into a Ninja Kiwi web account and purchasing and using NK Coins. All achievements and leaderboards still exist, though some achievements are no longer obtainable and some leaderboards can no longer update due to their games' servers being shut down. The application does not support logging into a MochiGames account or purchasing or using MochiCoins, nor does it support the Wheel of Fate.
All games except Bloons Super Monkey 2 allow the user to resize the game window freely. Most games simply expand to fit the window, but Bloons Monkey City expands the view of the player's city in the city mode and simply stays the same size in tower defense mode. Certain games, including Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles, and Bloons Monkey City, display a pop-up linking to the Steam versions of these games on startup.
Links to web pages within the games are handled differently depending on where they lead:
- Links to other supported Ninja Kiwi games open those games in the application in a separate window. For example, clicking on the "Play Bloons Tower Defense 4" button in Bloons Tower Defense 3 launches Bloons TD 4.
- Links to Bloons World or My Ninja Kiwi, or links that use the "newgam.es" URL shortener, display a message saying "This feature is no longer available." without opening the page.
- Links to MochiGames do nothing.
- All other links open the page in the user's default browser.
The user can search for games using the same categories formerly on Ninja Kiwi's website, or use a search bar. The user can also mark individual games within the application as "favorites" to have them show up at the top of the menu.

Technical information
[edit | edit source]The Ninja Kiwi Archive runs on Electron. The games are not built into the application, but are downloaded and cached from Ninja Kiwi's servers as needed. It downloads the same versions as the ones that were hosted on Ninja Kiwi's website at the time that the application was released, which means Bloons 2 and Bloons 2 Christmas Expansion use older versions.
