Help:Namespaces

Namespaces are a high-level system of grouping pages by their purpose on the wiki. The namespace of a page is notated as (namespace)(colon)(page name); this page's namespace is Help, for example. If a page does not have a namespace, it is implicitly in the "main" namespace.

In addition to the standard namespaces used in MediaWiki, this wiki has a few custom namespaces.

Default MediaWiki namespaces

4	Blooncyclopedia	Pages that are about the wiki itself, rather than Bloons media. BCP and Project are aliases for this namespace.	Blooncyclopedia:About

6	File	Files uploaded to the wiki go in the file namespace. This namespace has special functionality: a normal link to a file, like [[File:filename.png]], embeds the file into the page instead of linking to it directly. 8	MediaWiki	Pages that affect how the wiki functions, such as system messages and CSS files. Only admins can edit these pages.	Mediawiki:Common.css

10	Template	Pages that are meant to be transcluded onto other pages, usually with parameters to allow for users to fill them in with different information depending on the context. This namespace has special functionality: page transclusions implicitly use the template namespace, such as {{template name}}, which is equivalent to {{Template:template name}}. 14	Category	Pages that group other pages into categories. This namespace has special functionality: a normal link to a category, like [[Category:Bloons]], adds the page it is on to the category instead of displaying the link. To link to it directly, use [[:Category:Bloons]] instead.	Category:Bloons

Virtual namespaces

These namespaces exist for technical reasons and do not contain pages that any user can create or edit directly.
