Sex is a game mechanic in Bloons Adventure Time TD that provides specific buffs to Characters holding certain Trinkets, while standing near a character of the opposite sex. For the buff to apply, characters of the opposite sex must be in the range of the character holding the trinket. Allies are never considered to have a sex, and thus do not provide any benefits to characters holding sex influenced trinkets.

Black Bow Tie +6 Range and +15% Attack Speed while near a female character. Male characters
Mind Games Character's upgrades and allies are 5% cheaper when in range of a female character. Male characters
Cursed Ice Ring +4 Range and +15% Attack Speed while near a male character. If near Ice King, he gets this effect too. Female characters
