Dartling Gunners (Dartling Guns prior to Bloons TD 6) are monkeys that rapidly shoot darts from their Gatling guns in an inaccurate spread, aiming at the player's cursor (or the last tapped location on mobile). They were introduced in Bloons TD 4 Expansion.

Gameplay

In Bloons TD 4, the Dartling Gun has a single path which improves the rapid fire dart attack, with the tier 4 upgrade replacing it with faster and higher pierce lasers. It was first introduced in Bloons TD 4 Expansion, then later added to the original flash game in a patch.

In Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, the mobile version of BTD5, Bloons TD Battles, the mobile version of BTDB, and Bloons Monkey City, the Dartling Gun returns with two upgrade paths. The first path retains the same conversion to laser shots, with the tier 4 upgrade converting again to a solid laser beam. The second path instead converts the darts into missiles which explode on impact, with the tier 4 upgrade increasing the amount of rockets fired greatly.

In Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, The Dartling Gunner is classified as a Military tower. In BTD6, it was introduced in v22.0 and in BTDB2, it was available from launch. In Bloons TD 6, it can be unlocked through popping bloons, requiring 3,000,000 bloons to be popped. The first path shoots lasers to pop the bloons, like its Bloons TD 5 counterpart. The second path shoots missiles that can pop any type of bloon and eventually deal massive damage to MOAB Class Bloons. The third path shoots buckshot that can knock back bloons.

General Information

Overview

Dartling Gunners are more specialized than other monkeys. In fact, they're only available after popping Bloons because they only want to work with an experienced player.[1] This is reflected in their weapons too. The guns have little to no recoil because of high-tech inertia damping and their strong forearms.[2] Since their guns are so heavy, Dartling Gunners have to learn how to wield them from Pat. Also, the guns are not designed for projectiles other than darts and have muzzle flash because of how fast they shoot.[3] Sniper Monkeys actually prank them by replacing their darts with bullets, but this jams the guns (Dartling Gunners are obviously not amused by this).[4] They also tried using hot grapes from buccaneers but it didn't work out.[5] They seem to have an attachment to their guns, often referring to them as "lazy susans".[6]

Some of the weapons Dartling Gunners use were invented by Dr. Monkey. In particular, the Ray of Doom has a recliner chair that uses La-Z-Monkey technology. According to Dartling Gunners it feels like relaxing on a cloud.[7]

Personality

Dartling Gunners like grilled cheese the most out of any Monkey,[8] and also really like bacon.[9] Dartling Gunners have a lesser known Dartling Gunner Fan Club as well.[10]

Relationship with real life

Dartling Gunners don't notice the player's cursor. They just get a feeling of where to shoot.[11]
