Permafrost is the Ice Monkey's path 1 tier 1 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It applies permafrost to frozen Bloons, reducing their speed by 50% after they thaw out. The effect lasts for two layers, though the Ice Monkey's attack usually pops one layer, so it only really applies to two layers if the top layer has multiple points of health. This upgrade has several crosspathing benefits:
- Deep Freeze increases the number of layers affected from 2 to 3.
- Snowstorm's Activated Ability gains the permafrost effect as well.
- Absolute Zero increases the number of layers affected from 3 to 5 and can apply permafrost to MOAB-Class Bloons, slowing the outer layer by 25%.
- Icicle Impale can apply permafrost to MOAB-Class Bloons, slowing the outer layer by 25%.
