Ice Shards is the Ice Monkey's path 1 tier 3 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. Bloons frozen by this Ice Monkey will add a "ice shards" status effect that soaks up to two layers, or up to three layers with 3-2-0 crosspath, but will not trigger it from the initial freezing damage. The duration of the "ice shards" is equal to the duration of the freeze. Popping a bloon affected by Ice Shards will produce 3 shards of ice, 120° apart within 360°, and deal 2 damage onto up to 3 bloons. Shards can be affected by external damage buffs but not external pierce buffs. Shards have the shatter damage type, which pops Frozen but not Lead. Only towers that can pop frozen can trigger this ice shards effect, since it requires to pop the bloon layer (given enough attack speed, 3-0-2 ice can pop its own ice shards as well). Ice shards additionally gain:
- The ability to permanently removes camo and regrow properties (with the exception of DDTs spawning regrow, but not camo, ceramics)
- Gains +5 range, from 20 to 25 (27 to 32 with 3-0-1).
