Sam is a character intended for DPS with minor support capabilities such as stunning the largest non-BAD bloon and having a variant of Magic Door Portal for leaking bloons. Her DPS is abysmal normally, as her main beam attack does not scale off attack speed, so the only uses she has are for tagging MOABs with Thought Cannon Wand or a glitch that lets her ramp up damage through stacking infinite duration Plasma Goggles buffs.

For both uses, she will want all the range she can get. Conveniently, Thought Cannon Wand has the highest range of all wands in the game. Purchasing other upgrades on her is useful for letting her tag more MOABs, and if opting for one of the student upgrades, Student of Fire will leave behind small piles of fire that resemble Wall of Fire from the BTD series for helping her tag more MOABs. For Plasma Goggles, she must not upgrade anything before using it, otherwise she will lose any current stacks of Plasma Goggles. For a build with Plasma Goggles, switching a range trinket for Baby Tooth is very useful for her for cooldown reduction, and pairing her with Jake's Be Calmed By My Saliva also helps her ramp up faster. In Send in the Clones Martian Games, the Plasma Goggles buffs are shared across all Sams, making an army of Sams scale infinitely into higher and higher Martian Games when enough are on screen.
