Introduced Soft-launch

The Sniper (Sniper Monkey prior to version 1.0) is a Monkey in Bloons Blitz. It attacks using a rifle that shoots piercing bullets, hitting all Bloons in a straight line at the same time. It aims at the strongest Bloon within range (prioritizing the closest one if tied) and deals more damage to the target than to other Bloons hit by the same shot.

Upgrades

[edit | edit source]

Tactical Path

Keen Eye
Tier 1
Icon of Keen Eye
Find hidden intel to gain powerful buffs for all Snipers.
This upgrade causes the Sniper Monkey to spawn hidden caches around the map at random, and grants the Sniper Monkey a tracking device that indicates how close the player is to the nearest cache. Caches are normally invisible, but have small marks on the ground that indicate their position. The player can collect a cache by going within 5 meters of it, which adds 1 intel point to the team. Additional Sniper Monkeys with this upgrade do not spawn more caches, but increase the intel points earned by collecting caches by 1 each.

Collecting intel unlocks buffs to all Sniper Monkeys in the player's team. Each buff requires more intel to unlock than the previous buff, though any excess intel from the previous buff (i.e., by collecting a cache and earning more intel than required for that buff) carries over. The Level 2 version of this upgrade reduces the amount of intel required for each buff by almost half in total. Caches stop spawning after the player unlocks all seven intel buffs.

Icon of Enemy Knowledge
Finding intel now gives XP.
This upgrade causes intel caches to spawn 20 XP orbs when uncovered, each worth 10 XP, for a total of 200 XP per cache. If the Sniper Monkey does not have Better Signal, this upgrade also causes the Sniper Monkey's tracking device to indicate the direction of the nearest cache.
Icon of Better Signal
Increase Intel Radius.
This upgrade increases the distance the Hero can collect intel crates from by 100%, which does not stack with multiple Sniper Monkeys with this upgrade. If the Sniper Monkey does not have Enemy Knowledge, this upgrade also causes the Sniper Monkey's tracking device to indicate the direction of the nearest cache.
Icon of Crucial Information
Increase Intel Value.
This upgrade causes the Sniper Monkey to grant 2 intel points (3 with the Level 2 version) instead of 1 when the player collects a cache.
Icon of Supply Drop
Airdrops in a crate of lives, XP, or buffs.
This upgrade unlocks a secondary attack that deploys a flare every ~15.38 seconds, which then spawns one of three types of supply crates near it after a 0.3-second delay:
  • A yellow crate that grants the team a random amount of XP in the range of 100–500 (250–750 with the Level 2 version)
  • A black crate that grants a 100% attack speed buff to the whole team for 5 seconds (10 seconds with the Level 2 version)
  • A green crate that restores 1 health to the Hero, or adds 1 Temp HP if they are already at full health (except in Iron Monkey and Bodyguards mode)

These crates act like Encounters, activating once the player stands within the circle for 1 second, though unlike normal Encounters, finding them does not generate XP and Boss Bloons spawning in does not destroy them.

Icon of Satchel Charge
Fires out explosive charges based on collected intel.

Precision Path

Icon of Deep Strike Ballistics
Deal more damage to further away Bloons.
This upgrade causes the main attack to scale in damage depending on the distance between the Sniper Monkey and the target Bloon. Each shot deals the same damage to all Bloons it hits as the Bloon the attack was targeting at the moment of firing, though the target Bloon still more damage because the attack still deals bonus damage to the target. It deals 0% more damage with no distance and 100% more damage at the attack's maximum targeting range of 5 meters. The Level 2 version of this upgrade reduces the distance required to deal the maximum damage by 25%, effectively increasing the damage gained per unit of distance by 33%.
Icon of Extended Barrel
Apply more damage based on distance to target.
This upgrade increases the distance-based damage multiplier of its shots by 150%, without changing the total distance required to maximize its damage.
Icon of Anti-Materiel Rounds
Bosses hit by Sniper become vulnerable.
This upgrade causes its shots to apply a vulnerable effect to Boss Bloons on contact, making them take 15% more damage from all damage sources for 1.5 seconds.
Icon of Adaptive Caliber Rounds
Increase shot width by popping Bloons.
This upgrade increases the hitscan width of the Sniper Monkey's main attack by 12.5% (17.5% with the Level 2 version) each time it fires a shot that deals more total damage than any previous shots during the run.
Icon of Bouncing Bullet
Sniper bullets bounce to other targets.
Icon of Volatile Munitions
Targets sometimes explode, stunning nearby bloons and making them vulnerable.

Volume Path

Icon of Semi-Automatic
Increase attack speed.
This upgrade increases the attack speed of the Sniper Monkey's main attack by 100% (200% with the Level 2 version). It does not affect the Supply Drop attack.
Double Tap
Tier 2
Icon of Double Tap
Increase attack speed. Repeated hits on the same Bloon deal more damage.
This upgrade increases the attack speed of the Sniper Monkey's main attack by 200% and causes it to apply a vulnerable effect to all Bloons it hits, making them take 5% more damage from the same Sniper Monkey permanently. Hitting the same Bloon repeatedly stacks the effect up to 4 more times, for a total of 25% more damage.
Burst Fire
Tier 2
Icon of Burst Fire
Sniper now fires in bursts.
This upgrade causes the Sniper Monkey's main attack to fire in bursts of three rounds each time it shoots, with a 0.025-second delay between shots.
Icon of Point Shooting
Increase attack speed. Aims at closest Bloon.
This upgrade increases the attack speed of the Sniper Monkey's main attack by 200% (250% with the Level 2 version) and changes its targeting, prioritizing the closest Bloon instead of the strongest.
Crit Zone
Tier 4
Icon of Crit Zone
Sniper now emits a radius that guarantees crits.
Icon of Critical Overdrive
Increase Attack Speed. Pop Bloons to increase crit chance and enter Overdrive!

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • The Sniper Monkey's portrait before version 1.0 was exactly the same as its portrait in Bloons TD 6, despite having significant design changes that carried over from Bloons Card Storm, such as the addition of a jacket. This was unlike the Wizard Monkey and Alchemist, whose portraits were edited to account for some changes, such as the Wizard's glasses and Alchemist's vest buckle.
