Character

Characters are the main tower units in Bloons Adventure Time TD. Like Heroes in Bloons TD 6, characters have unique voice lines and stated personalities and only one of each can be placed at a time. However, their upgrade systems function more like conventional towers', being bought with cash. Additionally, up to 10 characters (chosen via the party customization menu) can be placed on a map at any given time.

Mechanics and customization

Character upgrades follow a branching system, in which certain upgrades cancel out the ability to get a different branch of upgrades (i.e., Bouncing Bomb and MOAB Mauler for C4 Charlie being mutually exclusive). Most characters have at least one upgrade that requires an entirely different character to be present and nearby (such as Sam's Student of Fire or Student of Ice upgrades requiring either Flame Princess or Ice King, respectively).

In the party customization menu accessed via the main menu or before starting a game, each character starts with a single slot for a weapon, a single slot for an ally, and three slots for trinkets. Weapons and trinkets boost one or a few stats and usually contain an additional passive effect or Activated Ability, while allies function as extra standard towers with no placement limits beyond the amount that are equipped.

Star levels are the main form of character progression outside of the game, unlocking stat boosts, upgrades, and increasing ally slots up to four and trinket slots up to ten at level 10. Star levels are gained by spending character resources or cosmic essence, the amount required increasing the further a character is leveled.

Weapons, trinkets, allies and resources are primarily gained through wish orbs, though up to three can be purchased with gems with Daily Deals.
