The Dartling Gunner (Dartling Gun prior to Bloons TD 6) is a Monkey that rapidly shoots darts from its gun in an inaccurate spread, aiming at the player's cursor (or the last tapped location on mobile). They were introduced in Bloons TD 4 Expansion.

Gameplay

Bloons TD Series

In Bloons TD 4, the Dartling Gun has a single path which improves the rapid fire dart attack, with the tier 4 upgrade replacing it with faster and higher pierce lasers. It was first introduced in Bloons TD 4 Expansion, then later added to the original flash game in a patch.

In Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, the mobile version of BTD5, Bloons TD Battles, the mobile version of BTDB, and Bloons Monkey City, the Dartling Gun returns with two upgrade paths. The first path retains the same conversion to laser shots, with the tier 4 upgrade converting again to a solid laser beam. The second path instead converts the darts into missiles which explode on impact, with the tier 4 upgrade increasing the amount of rockets fired greatly.

In Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, The Dartling Gunner is classified as a Military tower. In BTD6, it was introduced in v22.0 and in BTDB2, it was available from launch. In Bloons TD 6, it can be unlocked through popping bloons, requiring 3,000,000 bloons to be popped. The first path shoots lasers to pop the bloons, like its Bloons TD 5 counterpart. The second path shoots missiles that can pop any type of bloon and eventually deal massive damage to MOAB Class Bloons. The third path shoots buckshot that can knock back bloons.

General Information

Dartling Guns are not designed for other projectiles. They tried using hot grapes from the buccaneer but it didn't work out.^[1] Every April Fools, Sniper Monkeys replace their darts with bullets, jamming them. (Dartling Gunners do not find this amusing)^[2]
Dartling Gunners often refer to their guns as "lazy susans".^[3]
Dartling Gunners are only available after popping bloons because since they are very specialized, they want to make sure the player is experienced.^[4]
Dartling Gunners like grilled cheese the most out of any Monkey.^[5]
The Ray of Doom has a recliner chair invented by Dr. Monkey using La-Z-Monkey technology. According to Dartling Gunners it feels like relaxing on a cloud.^[6]
Dartling Gunners don't notice the player's cursor. They just get a feeling of where to shoot.^[7]
Dartling Gunners learn how to wield their gun from Pat. Despite using darts, their guns have a muzzle flash because they shoot really fast.^[8]
