Looking for all max characters in BATTD? This will explain all free routes for farming character resources, and highlight what's missing. Note that all cosmic essence rewards are 4%? chance of dropping, and it is assumed that the remaining 12 resources share an equal chance amongst themselves.

Sources of Character Resources

• Chests from completing maps the first time and from dailies award random character resources. Bronze chests give 1 random material, silver gives 2, gold gives 3, diamond gives 5.
• Completing all maps in adventure can award character resources. Completing all maps on Normal gives 3, Hard gives 6, Extreme gives 9, Impoppable gives 12.
• The player can double rewards after completing a map outside of events once, including character resources. If the player gets the prompt, it goes on cooldown even if they do not use it, but if they force close the game after receiving the chest, they keep the rewards and keep the doubler, so this should be saved for character resources with alts. This prompt resets exactly a day after the player after the player uses it and is not tied with server-side daily resets.
• Doing Bloon Beacon maps awards resources similar to completing maps for the first time, but the resources are shown before actually completing the beacon.
  • Having the game closed before the bloon beacon refreshes naturally may have it reset what material is listed upon loading the game. This does not always happen, and it seems like if this was used, that the next natural beacon cannot have this happen. Take advantage of this whenever one of the six resources without alts appears.
• Martian Games occasionally has a random selection of resources in the store. Like all other items, they can only be bought once per slot. Listed are non-cosmic amounts, as cosmic essence quantities are lower:
  •  2,500 for 10
  •  5,000 for 15
  •  10,000 for 20
  •  25,000 for 45
  •  45,000 for 75
  •  75,000 for 200 red, finn cakes, or meatballs, respectively If the player owns the respective premium character on the store
• Legendary Wish Orbs have a chance of giving 40 of a random specific character resource, or 20 cosmic essence.
• Joshua and Margaret events give a fixed resource each event, but each event gives different materials. It is unknown whether these are fixed per given time of the year or not.

• It was documented that another event (Was it the May-June 2024 event?) gave 1 cosmic essence for completing Normal or Hard, 2 Anchors for completing Extreme, or 3 Dynamite for completing Impoppable.
• The February 2025 investigation event instead gives 1 Anchor for completing normal or hard, 2 Red for Extreme, 3 Red for Impoppable.
• The May 2025 investigation event gives 1 Anchor for completing Normal/Hard, 2 Red for Extreme, 3 Finn Cakes for Impoppable.
• The September 2025 invesigation gives 1 Anchor for completing Normal/Hard, 2 Red for Extreme, 3 Red for Impoppable. A complete match with February 2025.

• Easter Event, Fireworks Fun, Hall-ooo-ween, and Holly Jolly Secrets gives 1 random resource for completing Normal or Hard, 2 for completing Extreme, or 3 for completing Impoppable. Having the crate at the end survive has a chance of giving 8 random resources, 25 gems, or a super rare or epic wish orb.
• Certain achievements give upgrade currency when claimed.

Effective farming methods and notes

Resources

• As six characters have alts while the other six do not, resources on characters without alts will be wasted as the player starts maxing them out, as each character needs the same amount of character resources, but the drop rates for all resources except Cosmic Essence are the same.
• Completing every map should be first priority. If possible, do Bloon Beacons on Impoppable when they refresh for more resources.
• Get the highest rarity Daily Quests available that the player can easily achieve while clearing maps. They provide extra resources on top of the resources the player will receive from clearing maps.
• Once the player completes every map, they should prioritize farming the Bloon Beacon when possible. If possible, use the Big Hearted Hero or Dimension Disruptor round skips, as if done properly, it will make a 10+ minute game instead only take 1 or less minutes.
• Alternatively during events that are not Joshua and Margaret's Investigations, farming the events with crates are slightly more efficient per gem but take longer to clear. Like normal Impoppable, they can be round skipped, but unlike normal impoppable, most maps will require selling Princess Bubblegum with Royal Promise, all while also having Big Hearted Hero Finn set up. • If after completing the Bloon Beacon, the next resource is Red, Finn Cakes, Meatballs, Bananas, Candy, Anchors, or Cosmic Essence, if the player has gems, they should keep skipping the cooldown until the resource is no longer one of these resources, for maximizing the most important resources for maxing all characters. If the player gets a prompt for doubling their rewards, they should double one of these seven resources.
• If the player has double rewards available but their bloon beacon is for one of the six resources not listed, the player can force close BATTD when the chest appears without opening it, keeping the chest rewards and not losing out on the prompt for a more desirable resource.

Gems

• Treasure Chest Keys makes farming Gems much more efficient, and will be utilized for farming gems for the purpose of skipping wait tiners on Bloon Beacons/Events.
• Skipping rounds in Martian Games until multiple BADs come out is recommended for gem farming, as BADs and their children provide more opportunities for gems than earlier rounds. If performed successfully, backing out after 5 or so rounds of multiple BADs usually reaches the gem cap per game.
• Avoid using characters that are heavily reliant on trinket-specific attacks for damage, as they may not activate Treasure Chest Keys. A notable character is Finn utilizing the Missile, as players have reported chests never dropping if the missile pops MOAB-Class Bloons.
• On Android, watching ads for gems is overall slower than farming gems through Treasure Chest Keys, but is an option starting out.
• Save gems for a Joshua and Margaret Investigations that has one of the rarer materials in Impoppable.

Spending Cosmic Essence

• Spending Cosmic Essence on Flame Princess, Ice King, Supermonkey, Sam, Sai, and C4 Charlie is not recommended, as they lack alts and because of this, they only need half the total resources as resources that can be spent on two characters. After doing enough Bloon Beacons or Events, the player will typically overflow in their resources without any compensation.
• Of the six resources that can be used on characters with alts, four of them have a somewhat consistent method of acquiring their resources in bulk.
  • Finn Cakes, Meatballs, and Red can be acquired by purchasing them from the Martian Games store while the player owns Dungeon Finn, Tuxedo Jake, or Hunter Marceline, respectively.
• Thus, Candy, Anchors, and Bananas are the best resources for using Cosmic Essence on, as these three have less sources than the latter three. If not spending Crystals on resources, then Candy, Bananas, Finn Cakes, Meatballs, and Red should be prioritized.
