Avenger is the Desperado's path 3 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It increases the damage of the pistol attack from 6 to 18 and does +18 Ceramic damage,<!--ceramic bonus no 50.0 change?--> increases the knockback of the shotgun attack on non-blimp types to -200%, allows it to knock MOAB-Class Bloons back at -100% speed, and causes each shell to spray three shrapnel projectiles on contact with a Bloon, spread 120° apart each dealing 1 damage to up to 6 bloons (affected by Extra Dart Pops).
Avenger is the Desperado's path 3 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. <section begin="lede"/>This upgrade adds a new property to Nomad's passive effect while it is active: it causes all Bloons ranked Rainbow and below to only deduct one life if they leak. If the effect triggers from a Bloon leaking, that Bloon still costs its normal number of lives.

Additionally, whenever a life is lost, all Bloons up to Rainbow only take away 1 life when they leak, alongside all the effects gained from the Nomad upgrade, for 15 seconds.
Additionally, this upgrade improves both of its attacks:
*Increases the pistol's base damage from 6 to 18, and grants it +18 damage to Ceramic Bloons.
*Increases the shotgun's knockback to -200% speed for regular Bloons and allows it to knock MOAB-Class Bloons back at -50% speed.
*Causes each shotgun pellet to spray three shrapnel projectiles after damaging a Bloon, spread over a 120° angle. Each shrapnel projectile deals 1 damage and has 6 pierce.<section end="lede"/>

Avenger's shrapnel benefits greatly from pierce and damage buffs (such as Berserker Brew and Primary Training) and Bloon debuffs, solidifying group damage. Its knockback helps it cover single targets below a BAD. Two Avengers are strong enough to lock down one section of a map lategame with support, and is better on maps that allow separation of defenses so it can maximize Wanderer buffs for its shotgun. Glue Storm is recommended to allow it to handle DDTs. Dan D'Monke and Ezili are the only Heroes that can manually trigger its Nomad life loss ability, with Dan's Rabble Rouser ability being the only one usable in CHIMPS, while Corvus's Soul Barrier requires leaks and is much riskier. Finally, its life loss reduction effect can be used as a last resort in the mid-game, but its income generation from leaked weak Bloons is difficult and almost always impractical.
Avenger is a knockback-focused tower with low pierce, short range, and medium downtime between knockback attacks, and is generally quite weak. Since its knockback is a speed multiplier, it lacks much synergy with other slowdown effects, but it does want a Berserker Brew and Primary Training for better pierce and enjoys speed buffs in general.

With 2-0-4 in late game, Avenger can be placed some distance away from the track. This prevents it from targeting Ceramic Bloons, but the larger size of blimps lets it attack them while benefiting from a much larger Quickdraw boost, since that depends not on the nearest targetable point but the center of the nearest bloon while here there are no bloons even in range. Since its knockback is just as strong against ZOMGs as against MOABs, it should focus on stalling the strongest bloons to make the most of its low pierce. Setting on Strong usually accomplishes that.
Getting Avenger inside range of a Village without losing one of the shotgun's Wanderer stacks can be difficult, but placing Avenger near the edge of the Village's range can allow it to retain the stack. Adding a second Village to buff the other Village can be added if necessary. Any repositioning function like the Reposition abilities of Support Chinook and Dan D'Monke makes precise placement more forgiving by re-moving Avenger in case of placement error. However, adding Primary Mentoring (but not Primary Training) makes it impossible for Alchemist<!--(36×1.1×1.1+5)−(40×1.1) = 4.56, which is > 0--> to not lose a shotgun's Wanderer stack without giving a Village-buffed Alchemist an additional buff such as Deadeye's Take Aim.

With max Wanderer stacks, some Nomad bonus, and Quickdraw near the edge of range, as well as Berserker Brew and Jungle Drums, the tower can reach shotgun burst cooldown of 0.75 seconds, which lets its knockback match MOAB Glue's slowdown<!-- Each burst stalls blimps by 0.44 seconds of their movement, 0.44 / (0.75 + 0.4) ~ 38% reduced speed -->. Managing anything better generally requires low enough blimp density for Standoff to activate. While this is much more expensive, restrictive on placement, and low pierce than most slowdown options, it also provides damage. However, its damage is mediocre against dense rounds where its knockback is most valuable and is too low to function well as a mid-game carry, even with Alch buffs, thanks to low range. Since each pistol and shotgun shot uses its own Acidic Mixture Dip charge, the tower also struggles to keep AMD stacks even with multiple AMDs, making it useless against DDTs.
0-2-4 is preferred for inherent Camo detection and the crit damage. 2-0-4 can be used if external Camo detection exists or if the 0-2-4's lack of single-target damage and knockback is too severe.

Its life loss reduction effect is generally hard to use, especially as Ceramic Bloons become more more prevalent in mid-game. It can be used as a last resort for leaks in the mid-game, but never for making income.<!--people prior to nomad cash stack formerly used xx4 for money-->

2-0-4 is the preferred crosspath, as it directly increases knockback uptime to improve its support role, and is much more effective at boosting its poor single target damage with a higher max damage at long range as well. 0-2-4 gets more damage at close range via crits and has natural camo detection, but camo detection can actually hurt Avenger late game due to a lack of DDT damage.
