The Boomerang Monkey is a Primary tower in Bloons TD 6. The Boomerang Monkey attacks by throwing boomerangs that travel in an anti-clockwise arc back to it. It has a Monkey Special targeting option that change its throwing arm to its left hand and throw boomerangs that travel in a clockwise arc, and can be toggled at any time. Each boomerang can pop up to 4 Bloons, but cannot pop Lead Bloons or frozen Bloons. Boomerang Monkey can be upgraded to throw boomerangs that bounce from Bloon to Bloon like Quincy's arrows, increase its attack speed with cybernetic implements, or throw boomerangs that travel in a straight line and push away MOAB-Class Bloons.

Path 1

Improved Rangs

Tier 1 — 100 XP to unlock

Can pop up to 8 Bloons per throw.

Improved Rangs increases the pierce of the Boomerang by 4 for a total of 8. It grants additional benefits to MOAB Press and MOAB Domination, improving the pierce of their heavy kylies (which knockback blimps) by 100.

Glaives

Tier 2 — 520 XP to unlock

Throws glaives instead of boomerangs. Glaives are bigger and faster, hitting more Bloons with each throw.

This upgrade replaces the Boomerang Monkey's boomerangs with glaives, which have increased pierce (from 8 to 13, a +5 pierce increase) and increased projectile size. When used as a crosspath for MOAB Press, the pierce of the heavy knockback kylies is improved by 120 and the kylies' knockback distance is increased by 50%. MOAB Domination gains the aforementioned benefits by crosspathing with Glaives, along with +10 pierce and +50% radius to the heavy kylies' explosion, and +23 main kylie pierce.

Glaive Ricochet

Tier 3 — 2,500 XP to unlock

Glaives will bounce from Bloon to Bloon automatically and aggressively.

The Boomerang Monkey throws glaives in a straight line instead of a curve, increases the pierce of its glaives from 13 to 15 (45 with Extra Bounce), and allows them to bounce from Bloon to Bloon, with a maximum jump distance of 80 units. If the projectile can't find a target within its jumping distance, it disappears. Additionally, each glaive can travel through line-of-sight blockers (though it does not allow Boomerang Monkey to see through them) and its projectile speed increases from 175 to 220.

M.O.A.R Glaives

Tier 4 — 8,500 XP to unlock

Multiple Object Advanced Ricochet greatly enhances the already extraordinary powers of the Glaive Ricochet Monkey.

This upgrade improves the effects of Glaive Ricochet's attacks. Boomerang Monkey attacks 3× faster (0.4 seconds attack cooldown without crosspaths), its pierce increases from 15 to 60 (90 with Extra Bounce), the glaives attack jump distance increases from 80 to 180 units, and projectile speed increases from 220 to 300.

Glaive Lord

Tier 5 — 37,500 XP to unlock

Glaive Lord surrounds itself in 3 special glaives that shred anything that comes near. Glaive Lord's glaives now rip through MOAB-class Bloons, slowly tearing them apart from the inside.

With this upgrade, three glaives orbit the Boomerang Monkey that rapidly damage any Bloons within close range, including Camo Bloons. Despite its appearance, the attack is simply an area of effect that damages Bloons inside it at a constant rate every 0.05 seconds but its damage cannot soak through multiple layers; the orbiting glaives are purely visual. The area of effect has a radius of 30 (40 with 5-0-1), deals 4 damage per tick, +4 to Ceramic Bloons, and can hit up to 200 Bloons at a time (230 with Extra Bounce).

In addition, the Boomerang Monkey's base attack deals +5 damage, +10 to Ceramic Bloons, can bounce to new targets from any distance, can re-hit Bloons it has already hit after 0.6 seconds, and now applies a damage over time effect to the first MOAB-Class Bloon it hits, dealing 100 damage to it every second for 10 seconds. The effect does not stack with itself, nor does it soak through multiple layers.

With Long Range Rangs crosspath the orbital glaive area of effect's size increases by 15%, and when upgraded further to Red Hot Rangs the damage of orbital glaives and base attack are increased by 2 and can pop Lead and Frozen Bloons. Additionally, this crosspath allows Glaive Lord to hit DDTs if visible.

Path 2

Faster Throwing

Tier 1 — 120 XP to unlock

Throws boomerangs faster.

This upgrade reduces the attack cooldown of Boomerang Monkey's main attack by 25%, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~33.3%. For MOAB Press and MOAB Domination, it reduces the attack cooldown of their anti-MOAB kylies by 20% (+25% attack speed). It does not affect Glaive Lord's orbiting glaives, only its ricocheting glaives.

Faster Rangs

Tier 2 — 550 XP to unlock

Boomerangs fire and travel faster.

This upgrade reduces attack cooldown of Boomerang Monkey's main attack by 33.3%, resulting in a 50% attack speed increase, for an overall attack speed increase of 100% over base Boomerang Monkey. Additionally, it increases its projectile speed by 30%. For MOAB Press and MOAB Domination, their anti-MOAB kylies have 25% reduced attack cooldown (+33.33% attack speed) compared to Faster Throwing, for a total of 40% attack cooldown (or +66.67% attack speed). Glaive Lord's orbiting glaives are unaffected by the attack speed increase, although its ricocheting glaives are affected.

Bionic Boomerang

Tier 3 — 2,500 XP to unlock

Replaces arm with a strong bionic arm that can throw boomerangs extremely fast and do more damage to MOAB class Bloons.

This upgrade decreases the attack cooldown by 75% (attacking 8× as fast as a Base Boomerang Monkey), resulting in an attack speed increase of +300% attack speed over the previous upgrade. It also deals +1 damage to MOAB-Class Bloons. This upgrade also very slightly elevates the tower's line of sight.

Turbo Charge

Tier 4 — 9,000 XP to unlock

Turbo Charge ability: Makes this Monkey attack incredibly fast for 10 seconds.

On top of Bionic Boomerang's base attack (which is unmodified), this upgrade gains Boomerang Monkey an Activated Ability that allows it to attack 5× as fast and deal +1 damage for 10 seconds (15 seconds with Long Turbo). If Bionic Augmentation is active, it also gains Camo detection for the duration. This ability has a cooldown of 45 seconds, and an initial cooldown of 15 seconds.

Perma Charge

Tier 5 — 32,000 XP to unlock

Perma Charge has permanent super fast attack speed. Ability increases the lethality even more.

This upgrade increases the attack speed of Boomerang Monkey by 5× (0.03s attack cooldown), and increases its damage by +3 (4 total, 8 with Red Hot Rangs). It also replaces the Turbo Charge ability with a new ability; instead of increasing attack speed, it increases damage by +10, and increases duration from 10 seconds to 15 (20 seconds with Long Turbo).

Like Turbo Charge, Perma Charge's ability grants Camo detection with Bionic Augmentation, has a cooldown of 45 seconds, and an initial cooldown of 15 seconds.

Path 3

Long Range Rangs

Tier 1 — 110 XP to unlock

Can throw boomerangs further than normal.

This upgrade increases the Boomerang Monkey's range by 33% (+14.19 units), as well as extending the arc length. For Glaive Lord, its orbital glaives gain +30% range.

Red Hot Rangs

Tier 2 — 490 XP to unlock

Boomerangs now pop Frozen and Lead Bloons and do more damage to all.

This upgrade increases the damage of boomerangs by 1 and change the damage type to Normal. If used for Perma Charge, the damage is increased by 4. Glaive Lord's main glaives gain +2 damage instead of +1.

Kylie Boomerang

Tier 3 — 3,000 XP to unlock

Throws heavy Kylie boomerangs that follow a straight path instead of curved.

This upgrade replaces the Boomerang Monkey's boomerang with a straight shooting kylie that has increased pierce from 4 to 18, and can rehit the same target after every 0.3 seconds.

MOAB Press

Tier 4 — 9,500 XP to unlock

Heavy Kylie boomerang hits MOAB-Class Bloons multiple times per throw and sometimes knocks them back a short way along the path.

This upgrade grants Boomerang Monkey an independent Heavy Kylie attack, a slow attack that is fired independently from the regular Kylie attack, targeting MOAB-Class Bloons to apply pushback and damage. Affected MOAB-Class Bloons (but not ordinary Bloons) can get hit multiple times from the same Heavy Kylie projectile, every 0.1 seconds, and this attack cannot hit BADs but can hit Boss Bloons. Different MOAB-Class Bloons receive different amount of pushback, which increases by 50% with Glaives and another 30% with Hard Press. This attack has a cooldown of 10 seconds (8 seconds with Faster Throwing, 6 seconds with Faster Rangs), and the projectile has 200 pierce (300 with Improved Rangs, 420 with Glaives).

MOAB Domination

Tier 5 — 28,000 XP to unlock

Special knockback kylies trigger more often and do lots of extra damage.

This upgrade throws boomerangs faster, and improves the damage and pierce of the regular Kylie Boomerang and heavy kylie attacks. Instead of returning, each Heavy kylie creates an explosion that burns nearby Bloons.

• Regular Kylie: Damage increases from 2 to 12, pierce increases from 18 to 54, and attack speed of this attack increases by +100%.
• Heavy Kylie: +150% attack speed (from 10 to 4 second cooldown), can target and attack through line-of-sight blockers, and is able to target all MOAB-Class Bloons, even those that it cannot push back (i.e. BADs and Boss Bloons). The heavy Kylie stuns MOAB-Class Bloons for 0.25 seconds, its bonus MOAB-Class damage increases from +4 to +24, pierce increases from 200 to 300, and it explodes instead of returning (or upon running out of pierce). The explosion deals 100 Normal type damage to all Bloons in a radius of 50, with 40 pierce, and applies a burn damage-over-time effect which deals 50 damage/second for 4 seconds.

Paragon

Glaive Dominus

Tier 6 — 500,000 XP to unlock

The Bloons will look upon my Glaives, and they will know fear.

Glaive Dominus has three different attacks, each based on Boomerang Monkey's upgrades:

• Main attack: It rapidly throws glaives which seek other targets across the entire map after hitting a Bloon, similar to Glaive Ricochet. This attack applies a damage-over-time effect to the first Bloon it hits.
• Orbital Glaives: In the same way as Glaive Lord, three giant glaives spin around the Paragon covering a large area which deals damage to nearby Bloons on contact.
• MOAB Press: Inspired by the upgrade of the same name, the Paragon can also launch a special glaive towards MOAB-Class Bloons which stops in place after reaching its target and pushes blimps backwards before exploding, dealing high damage and applying a damage-over-time effect. Functionally, it's more similar to MOAB Domination.

Glaive Dominus also gains an Activated Ability called Overcharge, granting a significant attack speed boost that reduces over time, resembling Turbo Charge. This Paragon also applies a buff to all Primary towers on screen including other Paragons, increasing their attack speed by about 11.11%.

Base Boomerang Monkeys rely on curves for damage rather than straight lines, but has good pierce and decent attack speed for early game, making it a good early tower whenever it can maximize its pierce. A Boomerang Dart start works on maps such as Sunset Gulch and High Finance, while a 0-1-1 Boomerang starts on Dark Path and Infernal.

Unlike most towers, Boomerang's lower upgrade tiers are generally cost-efficient even on their own. 1-0-2 is a staple in early game Boss Events, and 0-2-2 can carry early game in CHIMPS if it can make the most of its pierce.

MOAB Press is a staple late game support tower for knocking blimps back, while Glaive Lord is a strong late game T5. Elsewhere, Boomerang Monkey's top path focuses on grouped Bloon damage, middle path focuses on better single target damage, blimp damage, and burst damage through its ability, and bottom path functions as a supporting damager, especially against groups of blimps.
