Units, sometimes called range units or distance units, are a unit of distance in the Bloons franchise. They are often used to express the range and size of towers, attacks, projectiles, and effects. Speeds of projectiles and other objects are often expressed in units per second.

Unless otherwise specified, numbers describing a length or a distance should be assumed to be in units. The size of circular objects such as most tower's ranges, many projectiles, and the area-of-effect of explosive attacks are often expressed by their radius in units.

Map template that uses units for size references

In official communications such as update notes, Ninja Kiwi often describes distances using just numbers, without any units. For example, Ninja Kiwi has described certain balance changes to Spike-o-pult and Downdraft in Bloons TD 6 as follows[1][2]:

3xx Spike-o-pult range increased from 32 > 36.8
— Bloons TD 6 Version 42.0 Update Notes
x3x Downdraft blowback distance reduced from 32-300 to 32-150
— Bloons TD 6 Version 32.0 Update Notes

The term "unit" is used to give a generic name to the missing unit of distance.

Ninja Kiwi occasionally uses the term "units" in official communications. For example, in a template image intended to help players design maps for the 200k Map Concept Competition, some sizes are labeled with units.[3]
