A large circular pool of water also occupies the very center of the map. The caves, other rocks, and tar pits all block tower placement.

In the {{flash version|Bloons TD 5}}, the player can place land towers in the tar pits, and the paths alternate directions every other round (e.g. clockwise for the first two rounds, then anticlockwise for the next two rounds, then clockwise for the next two rounds, and so on).
