Rogue Legends is officially priced at USD$9.99, though the actual cost depends on the platform and region. A demo can be played in the Quest Rogue Legends Preview, which only allows playing three encounters. It is currently not accessible in Bloons TD 6+. Bloons TD 6 NETFLIX introduced it on 5th March 2025.<!--where is polavux date standardizer; this is nz date and dunno if it aligns with US or whatever-->

Purchasing the DLC unlocks an exclusive Avatar and Profile Banner, and an additional Avatar and Profile Banner can be unlocked by completing a campaign.
Random Encounters are a game mechanic in the Frontier Legends DLC of Bloons TD 6. As their name suggest, these are events that can happen at random while the player explores the Frontier, upon encountering one, the player will be presented with a description of the situation and one of more options of what Sheriff or his Posse can do in response. After selecting one there can be a variety of outcomes, including gaining or losing resources such as Bananite, Stamina or consumable items, modifying Traits of the Ranch Hands, losing members of the Posse,  or even no consequences at all.

Gameplay
Mechanics
The player begins a Rogue Legends campaign by creating their Starter Party, which is done by selecting a Hero or Hero Skin and up to three Artifacts. Campaigns are divided into five stages. On each stage, the player progresses through the map by navigating tiles on a hexagonal grid. Players can move by clicking on the tiles indicated by a blue Wisp, but they cannot move back afterwards (indicated by the path becoming darkened). On some stage layouts, there are there multiple starting tiles or branching paths that the player can choose from, but all possible roads will eventually converge on the Final Boss tile. Some tiles will have some Bloons floating over it that lead the player to a Bloon Encounter, which is a game of BTD6 with a custom set of rules, rounds and mechanics, and with Monkey Knowledge, Double Cash Mode, and Fast Track Mode disabled. Completing encounters earns items called Tokens (represented by an icon of Geraldo's head) that can be used to trade with Merchants.
Random encounters can be triggered by performing certain actions within the DLC and when it triggers, that type of encounter cannot be triggered again for a certain amount of time, most random situations are exclusive to certain triggers:

When an Encounter is triggered, the player will be presented with a text box describing the situation and one or more buttons that represents the actions that Sheriff or his Posse members can do in response. In some scenarios, selecting a specific option will not always result in the same consequence, as some of them have a table of different outcomes with predefined chances of happening.

The player has five BTD6 RogueHeartIcon.png hearts (2 in Endless CHIMPS mode) that are separate from lives and a heart is lost each time they lose an encounter. If the player runs out of hearts, the campaign ends with no option of continuing.
If the Posse has Monkeys with the Fortunate or Happy-go-lucky the game will perform an additional RNG rolls (up to the number of Towers with the trait) if the outcome of the Random Encounter is not considered to be the "positive" one.

In Rogue Legends, the player cannot place towers or Powers freely and can only use Insta Monkeys, which cost cash to place. They are cheaper to place than their combined base and upgrade costs, but more expensive to upgrade than normal. Insta Monkeys in the player's Party are reusable, but have a 4-round cooldown between uses. The player can add more Insta Monkeys to their Party by opening Loot Chests and visiting Camp Fires, but they can only have up to 10 Insta Monkeys in their Party; obtaining an 11th tower prompts the player to remove a tower to make space.
Lost Monkeys
When the Posse loses a member, the tower will not be completely lost, instead, when Sheriff enters an Area there is a 30% chance that the lost Monkey will appear somewhere at that location and if it triggers, it will stay there until Sheriff interacts with it which starts another Random Encounter where the player can decide to welcome the Tower back to the Ranch Hands, dismiss it or come back later. Up to 4 Monkeys can be lost at the same time.

During Bloon Encounters, the player can earn temporary items called Boosts, which can be Artifacts, Powers (which are purchased with cash instead of Monkey Money), or a one-time Insta Monkey. Temporary Artifacts will be active for the rest of the encounter and Powers or towers obtained from Boosts will be lost upon finishing the encounter, regardless of if they were used or not.
List of Random Encounters
Notes:

Players can encounter special tiles with different mechanics, such as Mini Games or Mini Bosses that can award additional Artifacts if the player can beat certain scores, Merchants that can exchange their Artifacts for tokens or other Artifacts, Loot Chests with additional Artifacts, or Camp Firessic that allow players to add more Insta Monkeys, permanently upgrade existing Insta Monkeys or Artifacts, or regain hearts. At the end of each stage, there is a unique Final Boss tile, which is a Bloon Encounter featuring a Boss Bloon. Defeating the Final Boss is required to progress to the next stage. After completing 5 stages, the player will complete the campaign and earn during Rogue XP (represented by marshmallows) that can be spent in the Rogue XP Shop to unlock permanent upgrades for future campaigns.
* <code>MONKEY</code> refers to a member of the Posse.

* <code>TOWER</code> and <code>APE</code> will be used if a second or third member is involved.
Parties
* <code>RECRUIT</code> refers to a random-generated Tower (like the ones at the Saloon).
Parties are a set consisting of a Hero, Insta Monkeys, and artifacts. Each Hero has a unique starter party that includes two Insta Monkeys and one hero artifact, and Hero Skins have different starter parties. Before beginning a campaign, the player can also choose their own "permanent artifacts" to start with, though limited to a combined artifact cost of 9.

Artifacts
ArtifactAdd new artifacts from v48
Artifacts are items that can be equipped during a campaign. All of them have beneficial effects, though some have negative effects as trade-offs, and some of them can add more Insta Monkeys to the player's party. The player starts their campaign with one artifact called a "hero artifact" that depends on the Hero or Hero Skin, and can choose up to three additional "permanent artifacts". Each permanent artifact has a value that determines its cost to equip in the starter party and to trade at a merchant. There are over 60 unique artifacts and upgraded versions. Most of them appear to come in at least three rarities: Common, Rare, and Legendary. Common Artifacts cost 3, Rare Artifacts cost 6, and Legendary Artifacts cost 9. After completing a stage, the player can extract one Artifact to allow it to be chosen in a Starter Party, but the extracted artifact will be lost for the rest of the current campaign.

Boosts
Boost
Boosts are temporary items that are obtained every 3 rounds on Bloon Encounters, or 5 rounds on Mini Games, at the start of a Mini-Boss and every 5 'pops' afterwards, and after triggering a Skull during a Final Boss fight. Boosts can be Boost Artifacts, Insta Monkeys, or Powers (including the Cave Monkey).

When selecting a boost, the player can choose one of three items (except during Races or Endurance Races where they are awarded automatically), or spend cash to reroll them. The first reroll is free, and every successive roll costs an additional $300 ($300, $600, $900 and so on). Insta Monkeys and Powers obtained from Boosts can only be used once.

Rounds
List of rounds in Rogue Legends

Bloon Encounters use a unique "Rogue Bloons" round set. These rounds scale in difficulty much quicker than the regular set (for example, MOABs will start spawning in the mid 10's), and to compensate, the players receive a much larger amount of starting cash in addition to their party Insta Monkeys and active Artifacts. Encounters start at round 2 out of 6 and after each encounter cleared, all future encounters in the same stage will start 2 rounds later and will last for 3 more rounds at the end (ex. 2/6, 4/9, 6/12, and so on), on stage 2 and higher, the first encounter will start 7 rounds and end 8 rounds later than in the previous stage, (9/14, 16/22, 23/30 and 30/38 on stages 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively), further encounters on those stages also increase in the same way as stage 1. In particular, the start and end round for a particular combination of stage and encounter is the following:

<math display="block">\text {Start Round} = 2 \times \text {Encounter} + 7 \times \text {Stage} - 7</math><math display="block">\text {End Round} = 3 \times \text {Encounter} + 8 \times  \text {Stage} - 5</math>

For example, the 9th encounter in stage 3 will start at round 2 × 9 + 7 × 3 - 7 = 32  and end at round 46.

The game will also have default challenge rule modifiers on Beginner maps and lower Bloon Speed , Ceramic Health and MOAB Health on Intermediate maps or higher. also Bloon speed will be incremented by 3% while MOAB and Ceramic health will be increased by +6% each encounter, and one additional stack of these increments will also be applied on each stage. In general the challenge modifiers in Bloon Encounters are determined by the following formula which uses the current stage and encounter number and a difficulty value which depends on the map difficulty:

<math display="block">\text {Bloon Speed} = 100 + 3 \times (  \text {Stage} + \text {Encounter} - \text {Difficulty} - 2 )</math><math display="block">\text {Ceramic / MOAB Health} = 100 + 6 \times (  \text {Stage} + \text {Encounter} - \text {Difficulty} - 2 )</math>

Costs
*Insta Monkey placement costs are based on the sum of the cost of the base tower and all upgrades they have, and are reduced by a percentage that depends on the highest upgrade tier they have. Insta Monkeys from Boosts cost 20% less to place on top of this.
*Upgrade costs are modified based on their tier. Regular upgrades cost more, but Paragons are cheaper.
*Powers earned from Boosts cost cash to place instead of Monkey Money.

The starting cash of an encounter can be determined with the following formula:

Mini Games are optional challenges that can reward the player with the choice of an Artifact when completed. Each Mini Game has three tiers of score goals, and the goal the player reaches determines if the Artifact options are Common, Rare, or Legendary. If the player does not reach any of the goals, no Artifact is earned. Players do not lose a heart if they lose or fail to achieve a goal score, but they can pay 1 heart to retry if they haven't earned an Artifact yet. ===Mini Boss===

Mini Boss tiles are similar to Mini Games, but use Boss Rush mode. These use the Phayze One round set rather than the Rogue Bloons round set, and Powers can be used normally. The player earns a Boost at the start of the game and every 5 times the Boss Bloon is popped. The Boss Bloon of the tile floats around it in a circle. Lych and Vortex currently cannot appear on these tiles, as neither have a Boss Rush variant yet.

Like Mini Games, each Mini Boss tile has three score goals that determine the type of Artifact the player earns. The number of boss pops required to reach each goal is based on the stage number:

Legendary Augment
Legendary Augments are variants of certain types of tiles with improved rewards, indicated by the tile glowing and sparkling. Two Legendary Augments spawn on each stage. Their effects depend on the type of tile:
*Bloon Encounter: The player will get a choice between Legendary Artifacts or tier 5 Insta Monkeys upon completing them instead of tokens.
*Loot Chests: All the Artifacts will be of Legendary rarity.
*Merchant: Can have Legendary artifacts in its inventory and the costs are different compared to a regular Merchant: Common Artifacts cost 4 Power, Rare Artifacts cost 10, and Legendary Artifacts cost 16.
*Camp Fires: Recruit Insta Monkeys will be tier 5, Mentor can upgrade tier 4 towers in to tier 5, Enhance allows upgrading a Common or Rare Artifact into its Legendary version (despite the text staying the same as a regular Camp Fire) and Heal restores up to five hearts.
*Mini Game and Mini Boss: Two Artifacts are rewarded instead of one, both will be of the same rarity depending on the the player's score.

Final Boss
Final Boss tiles are a battle against a Boss Bloon in a manner similar to Boss Challenges. The Boss spawns immediately upon starting the game and must be defeated within 35 rounds, starting at round 15. The tile will use the Rogue round set, grant a higher amount of starting cash, and also Bloon speed, Ceramic and MOAB health will be increased by 5% for each Bloon Encounter the player faced in the current stage plus an additional 5% times the stage number. The Boss will be in its Normal difficulty and its health is fixed at 30,000 regardless of who it is, also it will have a lower speed modifier.

The player can choose a Boost each time they reach a skull on the boss's health bar (no Boosts are earned by clearing rounds). When the Boss is defeated, the game will end immediately even if the spawns of the current round are still active. For rewards, the player will have a choice between a Legendary Artifact related to the Boss (replaced by another random Legendary Artifact if the player already has it) or Tier 5 Insta Monkeys, and the ability to extract one Artifact to use as a starting Artifact in future campaigns. Defeating the Final Boss progresses the player to the next Stage.

The Final Bosses of stages 2 and higher will be on their Elite version and the battle will start and end 5 Rounds later each tier (20/55, 25/60, 30/65 and 35/70, respectively), and the Boss health will be increased by 30,000 each time, maxing out at 150,000 at Stage 5. Passive and Skull effects will be the same as in Boss Challenge with the Stage number determining the boss tier, however Bloonarius will use its Normal difficulty bleed and skull spawns while displaying its Elite model.

In CHIMPS mode, on stages 6 or higher, the Bosses will remain at their Tier 5 Elite versions and the health and rounds will keep scaling in the same way as in previous stages. Boss speed modifier will be fixed at 20%. The Boss Bloons will keep appearing in the same order as they did on stages 1 – 5.

The Final Boss can be any Boss Bloon except Lych.<ref name="lych">{{cite|url=https://www.reddit.com/r/btd6/comments/1ijliib/is_lych_in_rogue_legends/mbf1eiy/|quote=Lych had to be cut from Rogue Legends unfortunately.
Practice allows the player to simulate a Bloon Encounter on any map of the player's choosing, including Protect The Yacht and Blons. The player chooses their Starter Party and plays rounds 1–65. There are no health or speed modifiers and the player earns Boosts every two rounds instead of three. After completing round 65, the player can continue in Freeplay.

CHIMPS
CHIMPS is unlocked by completing stage 5 of a campaign for the first time. In this mode, the player is limited to two hearts, the maximum number of towers in the party is reduced, will have lesser amount of starting cash <!-- TODO: write to how much is reduced --> and cannot extract Artifacts after stage 5 and in exchange the player will receive higher amounts of Rogue XP, which can be further increased by enabling Curses, which are passive negative effects that are in effect during the entire campaign, the player can select any amount of Curses up to a maximum of 375 Curse Points.

Strategy
main strategy

The difficulty of Rogue Legends wildly changes depending on luck. As a rule of thumb, always stay on the safe side when fighting each Bloon Encounter, especially during early stages. However, at later stages, the game mostly dwells to a matter of minimizing lag issues, with reduced focus on defense and moreso efficiently beating each stage as quickly as possible without excessive in-game calculations.

The starting party is important, firstly for the chosen hero for all stages, and secondly to pick the favorable towers and starting Artifact. The default bonus starting Artifact(s) should be picked based on the Hero and towers available; for instance, a starting party with Dart Monkeys may pick the Ceramic Chunker Rare + Frosted Tips Common to control large groups of bloons.

When starting a new stage, analyze the map, and calculate a one-way route. Picking the shorter path beats the stage quicker but leaves less room for additional rewards, while the longer path can give more total rewards but has the risk of getting difficult Bloon Encounters. Pay attention to special tiles, particularly Campfires and Merchants, to gain the opportunity to boost your party of towers and artifacts. Glowing tiles present rare opportunities for much better rewards, so try to take advantage of them if possible.

During each game, temporary boosts can be obtained occasionally; the ordinary boosts are often stronger than the one-use Instas for the current game, though the latter can be collected for future encounters. Try to avoid more than one reroll if possible; subseqent rerolls are not worth it, unless cash is not a concern at all.

Latest revision as of 04:16, 28 April 2026

This is where I do Legends-related stuff before it is ready for main

random encounter article I guess

Not to be confused with Bloon Encounters, which are the regular tower defense games.
Dice icon that represents Random Encounters

Random Encounters are a game mechanic in the Frontier Legends DLC of Bloons TD 6. As their name suggest, these are events that can happen at random while the player explores the Frontier, upon encountering one, the player will be presented with a description of the situation and one of more options of what Sheriff or his Posse can do in response. After selecting one there can be a variety of outcomes, including gaining or losing resources such as Bananite, Stamina or consumable items, modifying Traits of the Ranch Hands, losing members of the Posse, or even no consequences at all.

Mechanics

[edit | edit source]

Random encounters can be triggered by performing certain actions within the DLC and when it triggers, that type of encounter cannot be triggered again for a certain amount of time, most random situations are exclusive to certain triggers:

Random encounter triggers
Type Notes Minimum cooldown
NPC Monkey It is triggered when Sheriff interacts or collides with a Monkey NPC with simpler facial features from the Legends art style. It will spawn within 10 tiles from Sheriff and run towards him. 35 minutes
Campfire Triggers when Sheriff activates a Campfire. 10 minutes
Area Triggers when Sheriff enters a different area. 10 minutes
Defeat When Sheriff is defeated there is a 10% chance of triggering a Random Encounter upon returning to the Campfire 60 minutes

If the Posse has Monkeys with the Fortunate or Happy-go-lucky the game will perform an additional RNG rolls (up to the number of Towers with the trait) if the outcome of the Random Encounter is not considered to be the "positive" one.

Lost Monkeys

[edit | edit source]
This section is in need of research. You can help out by editing this article or discussing your findings on the talk page.
The editor who added this notice elaborates: Determine what happens when 4 monkeys are lost, is the oldest one lost forever or does the game not present wiht more of such events at all?

When the Posse loses a member, the tower will not be completely lost, instead, when Sheriff enters an Area there is a 30% chance that the lost Monkey will appear somewhere at that location and if it triggers, it will stay there until Sheriff interacts with it which starts another Random Encounter where the player can decide to welcome the Tower back to the Ranch Hands, dismiss it or come back later. Up to 4 Monkeys can be lost at the same time.

List of Random Encounters

[edit | edit source]

Notes:

 • MONKEY refers to a member of the Posse.
 • TOWER and APE will be used if a second or third member is involved.

 • # represents a random number of rounds
 • Notes not present in the in-game text are indicated between parentheses.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
Two Piercing Pearl NPCs, one for the lost Ranch Hand (left) and one for the non-interactable NPC (right)
 • If Piercing Pearl or Quickshot Clyde get lost from a Random Encounter, their non-interactable NPCs still appear in Sandytown. These Ranch Hands can spawn in Sandytown after being lost, causing there to be two Piercing Pearl or Quickshot Clyde NPCs in the same area (though only the NPC representing the lost Ranch Hand is interactable).
