Upgrading a Super Monkey into a Temple Of The Monkey God sacrifices all towers within the Temple's range. The Temple unlocks additional attacks depending on the types of towers sacrificed and gains more powerful attacks depending on the total amount of cash spent on the sacrificed towers. Regardless of difficulty, creating a maxed-out Temple requires sacrificing at least $30,000 worth of each of the following:
- Bomb Shooters and/or Mortar Monkeys (cumulative)
- Ice Monkeys
- Glue Gunners
- Monkey Apprentices
- Any combination of other towers
It costs $150,000 total to max out all five tiers for all five sacrifice categories.
Mechanics
The enhancements a Temple gains from sacrificing depends on the types of towers sacrificed and the total amount of cash spent on those towers. When sacrificed, a tower adds its total cash value (the same metric that determines its sell value) to the sacrifice value of its corresponding category, which then determines the level of benefits gained from that category. There are five different categories of sacrifices, each with five tiers of sacrifices. Creating a maxed-out Temple requires having enough cash invested across all five categories of towers in order for each category to reach level 5.
| Level | Total cost of sacrificed towers |
|---|---|
| 1 | $1–$1,499 |
| 2 | $1,500–$3,999 |
| 3 | $4,000–$9,999 |
| 4 | $10,000–$29,999 |
| 5 | $30,000+ |
In Bloons Monkey City, the Super Monkey's Monkey Knowledge multiplies the value of sacrificed towers by 10% starting at rank 5, effectively reducing the amount of cash required to meet each threshold. The multiplier increases to 20% at rank 10 and 30% at rank 15.

Sacrifice effects
Unless otherwise stated, the effects of sacrifices are the same between all games of the same system. That is, the sacrifice effects in the Flash versions of Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles, and Bloons Monkey City, as well as Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, are almost identical between each game, and the sacrifice effects in the mobile versions of Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles, and Bloons Monkey City, as well as the console version of Bloons TD 5, are completely identical between each game. There are slight differences in sacrifice effects between the Flash games and mobile games.
Main attack
In the mobile games and the console version of BTD5, the Temple's main attack gains +1 damage per sacrifice level it has, up to a maximum of +25 damage with all 25 sacrifice levels (29 damage in total); however, the main attack's damage does not pass through layers, so the extra damage only applies to Ceramic Bloon and MOAB-Class Bloon layers. It has unlimited pierce at all levels.
In the Flash games, the Temple's main attack gains +5 pierce per sacrifice level and +1 damage per two sacrifice levels, up to a maximum of +125 pierce (175 total) and +12 damage (15 total) with all 25 sacrifice levels.
Missile attack
Sacrificing Bomb Shooters and/or Mortar Monkeys unlocks an attack that fires golden missiles. At all levels, it fires once every second and can damage all Bloon types. At higher levels, the missiles have less pierce and a smaller blast radius, but it fires multiple missiles at a time.
Due to an oversight in all of the mobile games and the console version of BTD5, the level 4 and level 5 versions of the attack are identical to the level 3 version.
| Tier | Effect (mobile / console) | Effect (Flash) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fires 1 missile at a time with 1 damage, 200 pierce, and a blast radius of 200 units | |
| 2 | Damage: 1 → 2 | |
| 3 | Pierce: 200 → 150 Blast radius: 200 → 150 Missile count: 1 → 3 | |
| 4 | No effect | Now deals +18 damage to MOAB-Class |
| 5 | Missile count: 3 → 6 | |
Ice attack
Sacrificing Ice Monkeys unlocks an attack that fires exploding ice bombs that damage and freeze Bloons in an area. At all levels, it fires every 2 seconds, has 999 pierce, deals 1 damage, and can hit all Bloon types. At level 5, the Temple gains an Arctic Wind-like effect that passively slows all non-MOAB-Class Bloons within an area.
| Tier | Effect (mobile / console) | Effect (Flash) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Blast radius of 200 units, freezes 1 layer for 1.5 seconds | |
| 2 | Blast radius: 200 → 250 Freeze duration: 1.5s → 2s | |
| 3 | Freeze layers: 1 → 2 | |
| 4 | Blast radius: 250 → 300 | Blast radius: 250 → 300 Freeze duration: 2s → 2.5s |
