Changes

We made Bloon Boosts more powerful few updates ago to ensure that games stayed fast paced and aggressive despite some towers getting sizable buffs. We knew this would be an impactful change and we wanted to give it a lot of time to settle before we altered it further. We feel enough time has passed now and have decided that the new Bloon Boost makes some early rushes a little too hard to defend so we are dialing it back a bit.
— Update notes
  • Neutral Speed bonus reduced ― +40% → +33%
Tight ceramics were a dangerous rush which offered a little too much value for their cost. We are increasing their price to reflect how potent this bloon send is.
— Update notes
  • Neutral Tight Ceramic: cost increased ― $2,800 → $3,200
The Buccaneer’s popularity has fallen as of late so we are bringing over a popular change from BTD6 to increase its utility.

Tiers Changes
X-4-X Monkey Pirates
X-5-X Pirate Lord
  • Buff Ability: Now generates cash for hooking in MOAB-Class Bloons
    • MOAB: $400
    • BFB: $800
    • ZOMG/DDT: $1200
X-X-3 Merchantman
  • Buff End-of-round income increased ― $300 → $350
The Monkey Ace has been a strong tower in all stages of the game. We are increasing the cost of its early upgrades to make it a more difficult tower to start with.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
0-0-0 base tower
  • Nerf Cost increased ― $700 → $850
X-3-X Bomber Ace
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $900 → $1,000
Dartling is hindered by a expensive early game. Decreasing its base cost will make it viable in more strategies.[sic]
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
0-0-0 base tower
  • Buff Cost reduced ― $800 → $700
We are increasing the maximum value of sacrificed towers to make it more of a decision whether to fully commit to a maxed out Sun Temple or get a less powerful temple quicker.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
3-X-X Sun Avatar
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $11,500 → $13,000
4-X-X Sun Temple
5-X-X True Sun God
  • Nerf Max sacrifice value requirements per category increased ― $15,000 → $20,000
Druid has felt a bit weaker than we wanted. With the ball of light now homing to the bloons, it should be easier to use its full power. We are also increasing the utility of Heart of Oak as it has felt a little lacking.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
4-X-X Ball Lightning
5-X-X Superstorm
  • Buff Ball Lightning: lightning ball now homes towards bloons
X-2-X Heart of Oak and further upgrades
  • Buff All attacks now have 33% chance to strip Fortified properties from non-MOAB bloons
The introduction of the Quality Soil upgrade was another impactful change we wanted to allow plenty of room to settle before tweaking it. We feel this change will slow down farms in the early game, but keep their late game impact.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
X-X-1 Quality Soil and further upgrades
  • Nerf Discount to path 1 and 2 upgrades decreased ― 20% → 15%
The Monkeyopolis upgrade was proving to be a bit too efficient seeing as it improves bloon income as well as generating cash itself. We are increasing its cost to reflect its powerful money making ability.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
X-X-5 Monkeyopolis
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $15,000 → $20,000
We want Sentry Expert to have a big impact the moment you purchase it so feel it's important to keep the bonus sentries it spawns. 6 bonus sentries were proving to be too much extra damage however so we are dialing it back to 4 to make it a more measured response to a rush.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
4-X-X Sentry Expert
  • Nerf Sentries spawned upon upgrading reduced ― 6 → 4
Cyber quincy has very quickly become the most popular hero. This decrease in his initial damage should bring it back in line with the other heroes.
— Update notes
Levels Changes
10-13
  • Nerf Cyber Storm: damage per 0.05s reduced ― 25 → 15
  • Nerf Cyber Storm: damage to MOAB-Class per 0.05s reduced ― +25 → +15 (undocumented)
    • Note: Levels 14+ are unaffected for both base and bonus MOAB-class damage
Gwen’s synergies with other fire towers were not proving as impactful as we would like so we are improving its potency.
— Update notes

  • Buff Pyrotechnic Expert buff (4xx Tack, xx3 Mortar, x3x Wizard): Bonus attack speed and blast radius increased ― +10% → +15%
18+
  • Buff Pyrotechnic Expert buff (4xx Tack, xx3 Mortar, x3x Wizard): Bonus attack speed and blast radius increased ― +20% → +30%
Ocean Obyn has not had any changes in quite a long time so he was due for a shake up. Increasing the pierce of his Living Coral ability will hopefully give him a new lease on life.

Smudge Catt Ezili is another hero who has been proving less popular of late. We are increasing the duration of her Scratching Post to help her stand out amongst the crowd.
— Update notes

7-15
  • Buff Scratching Post: sub-tower lifespan increased ― 10s → 15s
16+
  • Buff Scratching Post: sub-tower lifespan increased ― 20s → 30s
MOAB Decoy was proving to be too decisive in late game battles. Allowing it to be affected by speed ramping means it spends less overall time on screen and thus reduces the amount of time it can serve as a distraction.
— Update notes
Levels Changes
10+
  • Nerf Bloon Decoy: Now affected by speed ramping of MOAB-Class Bloons on later rounds
    • Note: Decreases time to last on screen, and limits "layering" of the Decoy on top of blimps
  • Players can now skip maps when randomizing their loadout. (undocumented)

Bug fixes

  • Fixed Opponent Hero sometimes being unable to fire abilities on Bloon Bot Factory in the Bloon Lab.
  • Fixed Bloon Boost not working in Bloon Lab.
  • Known Issue: Agent Jericho will not send Bloon Decoys when facing him in Hero Challenge. This will be fixed very soon in an update.
