Half Cash is a game mode in Bloons TD 6. In standard play, it is played on Hard difficulty. In singleplayer, it can only be played on a map after completing it on Double HP MOABs. In Half Cash, almost all sources of cash, including starting cash, cash per pop, end-of-round cash, cash from Continues, and cash generated by towers produce only half as much as normal. There are a few exceptions:

  • Monkey Bank and its subsequent upgrades still generate 15% interest on their internal balance at the end of every round, although the cash they generate during the round is still halved. Because their cash generation is nonlinear, they produce more than half as much cash overall after saving for at least one round.
  • Geraldo's Rare Quincy Action Figure, Bananite Crystals in Three Mines 'Round and Havoc Staff are entirely unaffected.

If Double Cash Mode is enabled, it effectively cancels out the reduction to starting cash, cash per pop, and end-of-round cash, but other sources of income are still reduced.

Strategy

For more in-depth strategies, see Strategy:Half Cash.

Half Cash has arguably the most frustrating gameplay out of all game modes, due to the lack of many tower choices that results from the reduced income. A high level of Monkey Knowledge is recommended to succeed in Half Cash mode. In particular Bonus Monkey! Bonus Monkey!, More Cash More Cash, Mana Shield Mana Shield, Pre-game Prep Pre-game Prep and Military Conscription Military Conscription are greatly helpful.

In Half Cash, the hero surges in power due to the limited amount of cash to purchase other towers, and proper usage of them is key. Corvus is the most powerful hero for Half Cash, thanks to his immense power in all stages of the game and versatility from his spellbook, but all other heroes see great uses as well. Strategic tower placement is essential to preserve cash that would otherwise be lost due to selling too many early game towers that become useless later on.

Many towers which are strong in other game modes are not viable in Half Cash due to their high cost; this includes most tier 5 towers. It is often better to use multiple cheap towers rather than one expensive one, because saving for an expensive tower takes too long.

On maps with water, it is usually possible to sell one's entire defense on round 80 to buy a First Strike Capability which can one-shot the ZOMG.
