Insta Monkey

Insta Monkeys (also known as Insta-Monkeys or Instas) are a game mechanic in Bloons TD 6. They can be deployed in a game to place a tower with preset upgrades, without costing any cash. Like Powers, they cannot be used in CHIMPS or any ranked game modes.

Completing rounds

One Insta Monkey is earned for completing every 100^th round. The highest possible tier of the Insta Monkey on round 100 depends on the difficulty of the map, and each tier has a different weighting, while Insta Monkeys for rounds 200 and on use the same weighting regardless of difficulty. This works in any game mode unless it has the "No Round 100 Reward" challenge rule enabled or is played in Contested Territory or Rogue Legends.

On Primary Only, Military Only, and Magic Monkeys Only, the Insta Monkeys will always be towers of their corresponding tower category. There is no equivalent for Support towers.

Collection Chests

Main article: Collection Event (BTD6)

During Collection Events, players are able to open Collection Crates when they receive enough Collection Rewards, with better Crates being rewarded each time the player achieves a specific milestone in the number of Rewards. Collection Crates contain 2-3 Insta Monkeys each, with the type and quantity of Insta Monkey being random.

Before opening a crate, the player has the option to choose between four tower types, making the Crate contain only Insta Monkeys of that type. The four available options cycles over time, and each tower type can only be selected five times per cycle.

Borders

On the Collection screen, borders are added around the towers' icons, similar to the map borders, once a certain set of Insta Monkeys for that tower have been collected. A gold border is added if the player has all Insta Monkeys for that tower up to tier 4, which is replaced with a black border if the player has all tier 5 Insta Monkeys as well.

Notes

• Insta Monkeys without any upgrades bought on them will not sell for any cash.
• An Insta Monkey of a locked tower/upgrade can still be obtained and placed. However, Insta Monkeys of towers/upgrades restricted in the Challenge Editor cannot be placed.
• Certain Insta Monkeys have special interactions:
  • The Sun Temple and True Sun God do not sacrifice towers when placed. And honestly, it's free, what else do you expect? A Lamborghini? A girlfriend? They can also be placed almost anywhere on the map, including water, the track, and areas without solid land. However, they cannot be placed on other towers or on areas containing two different heights (e. g. the wheelbarrow on In The Loop).
    • Sanctuary is a good example of this, allowing their placements anywhere on the map.
  • Monkeyopolis does not sacrifice towers, but it generates 10x $120 crates per round.
  • Beast Handlers with Path 1 and/or Path 3 upgrades can be placed in locations without water and/or track. Their water/air beasts cannot be deployed, transfer or receive Beast Power, or be upgraded on that path until their respective terrains appear within range.
