The Dart Monkey is a Primarytower in Bloons TD 6. It attacks by throwing darts that each pop up to 2 Bloons (3 with Extra Dart Pops). Its darts cannot damage Lead Bloons or frozen Bloons. It can be upgraded to hurl bouncing spiked balls from catapults, throw more darts per shot and transform into miniature Super Monkeys, or operate a crossbow that shoots high-damage bolts.
Converts the Dart Monkey into a slower attacking Spike-o-pult that hurls large spiked balls. Each ball can pop lots of Bloons and rebounds off obstacles.
This upgrade replaces the Dart Monkey's darts with a catapult that launches spiked balls. These deal 2 damage, have 18 pierce, pop frozen Bloons, have increased projectile size (2 to 5) and lifetime (0.25s to 1s), and rebound off obstacles to rehit Bloons. However, these are fired every 1.15 seconds instead of 0.95 seconds and have half the base projectile speed. Additionally, the Spike-o-pult gains 4.8 units of range.
This upgrade reduces the Spike-o-pult's attack cooldown from 1.15 seconds to 1 second and upgrades its projectiles to travel much faster and further, deal +3 damage to Ceramic Bloons and +2 damage to Fortified Bloons, can pop Lead Bloons, and have 60 pierce instead of 18. It also inflicts knockback on non-MOAB-Class Bloons, causing them to move backwards at 4× speed briefly with each hit. Lead Bloons and Ceramic Bloons only move at 2x speed. With Force vs Force, the tower does +2 damage to MOAB-Class bloons.
This upgrade increases its damage and bonus damage to Fortified Bloons from 2 to 5, the bonus damage to Ceramic Bloons from 3 to 8, and gives +20 damage to Lead Bloons. Its pierce is increased from 60 to 210, and when hitting a wall or reaching half pierce, the ultra-juggernaut projectile splits into 6 juggernaut balls, splitting into another 6 juggernauts once it expires. The juggernauts each have equal statistics to the normal Juggernaut, but with 50 pierce, no knockback, and can only bounce once.
This upgrade reduces the attack cooldown of the Dart Monkey by 15%, resulting in an attack speed increase of ~17.6%, contrary to the upgrade's description.
This upgrade reduces the attack cooldown of the Dart Monkey by 33%, resulting in it shooting ~21.8% faster than Quick Shots and ~49.25% faster than the base Dart Monkey, contrary to the upgrade's description.
With this upgrade, the Dart Monkey throws three darts at a time instead of one, spread 15° apart from each other. It also decreases the attack cooldown of the Dart Monkey by 25%, resulting in an attack speed increase of ~33.3%.
With 4 and 4, Dart Monkey throws four darts every fourth shot, spread 10° apart from each other, so it retains a total projectile spread of 30°.
Super Monkey Fan Club Ability: Converts up to 10 nearby Dart Monkeys including itself into Super Monkeys for 15 seconds. Regular attack speed also increased.
This upgrade reduces the Dart Monkey's attack cooldown by 50% and grants an Activated Ability that transforms up to 9 other Dart Monkeys and itself into fast-attacking Super Monkeys for 15 seconds, with an ability cooldown of 50 seconds. The ability prioritizes transforming non-transformed Dart Monkeys closest to the one that activates the ability.
This upgrade has a more powerful Activated Ability that now transforms 19 dart monkeys into stronger Plasma Monkeys. Compared to its previous tier, Monkeys transformed by Plasma Monkey Fan Club gain +1 damage, +3 pierce, +100% attack speed, and change their damage type from Sharp to Plasma.
This upgrade replaces the Dart Monkey's darts with a crossbow, which increases range from 48 to 60 (63 with Crossbow Reach), fires bolts that deal 3 damage instead of 1, can pop up to 4 Bloons at once instead of 2, and travel slightly faster.
With, Sharp Shots, shots gain +3 pierce, plus another +5 pierce (total of +8 pierce) with Razor Sharp Shots; in total, they have 7 and 12 pierce, respectively.
With this upgrade, every 10th projectile shot by the Dart Monkey becomes a crit shot that deals 50 damage instead of the normal amount. Additionally, this upgrade increases its non-crit damage from 3 to 6, and increases its attack speed by +100% from every 0.95s to every 0.475s. It also increases its projectile speed by 33%, but reduces its projectile lifespan, so the maximum travel distance of its projectiles remains about the same.
The Dart Monkey gains +4 pierce (total of 8), +20 range (80 range, ~77.78% increase compared to base tier), +100% attack speed (0.2375s attack cooldown), +2 damage (total of 8), and the Normal damage type. Additionally, each crit does 80 damage per shot and occurs every 5th shot.
With Master Double Cross, the player is allowed to place or upgrade to a second Crossbow Master, allowing two Crossbow Masters on the field at the same time. With Crossbow Reach, the tower's range is increased from 80 to 83.
The Apex Plasma Master rapidly fires volleys of three plasma juggernaut balls at a time, which produce 6 smaller juggernaut balls up to two times when the larger juggernauts lose enough pierce or expire. All of its juggernauts are capable of rehitting bloons after bouncing off obstacles. Despite being made of "plasma", the juggernaut balls have Normal type damage, and deal increased damage to Ceramic Bloons and Boss Bloons.
Dart Monkeys, Boomerang Monkeys, Bomb Shooters, Tack Shooters, Super Monkeys, Druids, and Mermonkeys follow cursor like a Dartling Gunner with a turn rate of 180, and constantly fire as long as Bloons are on screen. Attack speed reduced by 17%
Dart Monkeys, Boomerang Monkeys, Bomb Shooters, Tack Shooters, Super Monkeys, Druids, and Mermonkeys follow cursor like a Dartling Gunner with a turn rate of 300, and constantly fire as long as Bloons are on screen. Attack speed reduced by 9%
Dart Monkeys, Boomerang Monkeys, Bomb Shooters, Tack Shooters, Super Monkeys, Druids, and Mermonkeys follow cursor like a Dartling Gunner with a turn rate of 500, and constantly fire as long as Bloons are on screen. Attack speed reduced by 5%
The Dart Monkey has the lowest cost of all Monkeys in Bloons TD 6. Its cost-efficient nature and inexpensive upgrades allow it to function very well in the early-game.
Dart Monkeys are extremely useful for defending against the opening rounds of CHIMPS, even on Advanced and Expert maps. Common starts include three Dart Monkeys, Dart + Sub, Dart + Sniper, and Dart + Engineer.
Path 1 of the Dart Monkey converts the tower into a machine that fires spiked balls with high pierce. They are strong against Ceramics and grouped Bloons. The balls will also bounce off line of sight obstacles, making the tower most effective when placed near these obstacles.
Path 2 focuses on increasing the number of darts thrown, eventually unlocking a powerful ability that temporarily turns many nearby Dart Monkeys into Super Monkeys.
Path 3 grants the Dart Monkey a crossbow, allowing it to pop multiple layers of Bloon each hit. Its good damage, range, and Camo detection enables it to function effectively in the early- and mid-game, especially when placed near straight lines.
The Apex Plasma Master is the least expensive of all Paragons, making it a viable option against Tier 3 and 4 Bosses. With the second Crossbow Master from the Master Double Cross Monkey Knowledge, one can build a Degree 20+ Paragon with little additional investment. Like the Dart Monkey's top path, it is most effective when there are obstacles for its projectiles to bounce off of.
