Popular loadouts

The Sniper Monkey is an accurate tower that pops one bloon at a time, and a great support tower, provided other towers handle its weaknesses in early-game and grouped bloons. Its Shrapnel Shot and Bouncing Bullet upgrades can deal with large groups of bloons on its own, but still struggles without assistance.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Alt income is very space-efficient
  • Long-ranged blimp debuffs

Weaknesses

  • Very weak early-game on its own
  • Very limited group-popping
  • No viable niche against Tight Rushes
  • Limited direct BAD damage

Upgrades

Path 1

  • Full Metal Jacket is a useful crosspath for chipping multi-layered Bloons in the early-game, including Leads. However, it's still quite slow and expensive on lower-tier Snipers.
  • Large Calibre is more often used as a crosspath, as Full Metal Jacket already does enough to break down early-game multi-layered bloons.
  • Deadly Precision is expensive and unreliable purely for Ceramic popping, yet more expensive than 2-0-3 Sniper for single-target. It is usually only bought as a transition to Maim MOAB.
    • 3-0-2 is usually better as its own upgrade, for maximized single-target damage, compared to 3-2-0 which still has poor pierce versus damage.
  • Maim MOAB assists in stunning small amounts of blimps at a time. Setting to Strong is almost always the best.
    • 4-2-0 is usually the go-to for Maim MOAB, allowing it to stun multiple blimps at a time.
    • 4-0-2 is preferred on single targets, specifically R20-21 Spaced BFBs, and R22-23 Spaced ZOMGs.
  • Cripple MOAB is a valuable support that synergizes very well with towers that attack very quickly and/or have plenty of projectiles. Its direct damage is low, so it's more of a support.
    • 5-2-0 is usually preferred to hit more BADs at once.
    • 5-0-2 is only better versus exactly one BAD.

Path 2

Path 3

  • Fast Firing...
  • Even Faster Firing...
  • Semi-Automatic...
  • Full Auto Rifle is a reasonably helpful mid-game carry on the 10's rounds, handling early MOABs and most R11 rushes if bought early, but can struggle a lot to a proper R13 rush without support such as Gwendolin.
  • Elite Defender synergizes very well with Smudge Catt, which for only 5 lives boosts attack speed by 4x on top of at least 2x attack speed.
    • 0-2-5 crosspath is usually preferred to handle groups of bloons, compared to 2-0-5 which is only helpful specifically against single-target.

Starting with the Sniper

Early-game with Sniper Monkey is not recommended, but if it's a must (e.g. Bonnie-Sniper-Super-Village), buy a tower/hero that deals with Grouped Reds and Blues first, and then buy a 0-2-0 Sniper into 0-2-2. Make sure the angle of the Sniper is against the grain of the track and not chasing bloons.

Support from the Sniper

In general, the Sniper is brought in loadouts as more of a support tower than an actual DPS tower (e.g. Ninja Monkey, Wizard Monkey); in fact the only incentive for Sniper as of current is its alt income generation plus blimp debuffs.
