Monkeys From Space
— in game event description

Monkeys From Space is an event exclusive to the multiplatform version of Bloons Monkey City, added on version 1.12. During the event, the option is given to the player for aliens to invade, and choosing to accept will abduct random Monkey Buildings and Upgrade Buildings, preventing them from being used during games until the player beats the abducted tile again.
Mechanics
While the event is available, the player will be prompted with an option to activate the event, done when the player first logs in. It can also be manually activated after the player selects the event in the event sidebar.
Once the event is active, a total of 2 to 20 Monkey and Upgrade Buildings will be restricted from use, depending on how many exist in the city. Monkey Buildings that become abducted are counted as damaged, and the Monkey is not available to be placed. Upgrade Buildings that become abducted will allow placement of the tower, but all upgrades will be locked, showing a unique icon in the tower selection bar and upgrade panel. Both buildings require beating the abducted tile to remove the restriction.
To beat an abducted tile, players find 5 Imposter Monkeys with green eyes and a green glob on their back. These spawn similarly to Bloon Spies and can appear near other Monkey Buildings as well as ignore placed paths. After finding all 5 monkeys, all UFOs will turn from green to yellow, indicating that they can be fought. From there, the tile can be re-beat (upgraded to a higher Difficulty dependent on City Level, as well as a potential Bloon Strategy added). If the player loses and quits the abducted tile, then the player must find 5 more Imposter Monkeys to try again. If the player wins the abducted tile, then the UFO is removed and the player can access the building again. The player must repeat this process for each abducted tile until all tiles are completed.
If the tile captured is a Volcano or Cave tile, additional rewards are granted due to the tile's special properties. The player can select either tile from an abducted Super Monkey Villa, Ace Airport, or Super Enhancements and take back the building. Abducted tiles cannot land on Special Mission Tiles unless they are on the aforementioned buildings, in which case they behave like the regular special mission.
Rewards
Defeating the last UFO of each event always rewards the Monkey Astronaut decoration. All other UFOs reward one of the following:

Bugs
- Tiles do not update their highest Bloon type or Bloon Strategy, and thus may display inaccurate information compared to the abducted tile.
- Rarely, Terrain favors/restrictions will be ignored when attacking abducted tiles.
Strategy
Monkeys From Space is significantly harder than normal tile captures. The best strategy for each tile may depend on which Upgrade Building is abducted, as well as the terrain. As a general rule of thumb, however, rounds 4-8 are the hardest parts of the game, often mixing Leads, Ceramics, as well as Camo and/or Regrow, and adding MOABs as early as round 6. Beyond round 8, the game shouldn't be so difficult due to gaining enough money to buy powerful defenses to handle other types of Bloons.
Before handling a tile capture, check which Upgrade Building is abducted, and capture that tile first if the tower will be important for future captures.
Important towers to bring into Monkeys From Space tiles include:
- Dart Monkey: Triple Darts
- Boomerang Thrower: Bionic Boomer
- Ninja Monkey: Bloonjitsu and Flash Bomb (with high MK)
- Ice Monkey: Ice Shards
- Glue Gunner: Corrosive Glue, Glue Splatter, and Glue Hose
- Monkey Ace: Spectre
- Mortar Monkey: Burny Stuff and Signal Flare (Camo Leads)
- Dartling Gun: Hydra Rocket Pods
- Monkey Village: All upgrades
- Monkey Engineer: Bloon Trap
- Bloonchipper: base tower and Super Wide Funnel
- Road Spikes
Before starting the event, it may help to manipulate your city setup, setting your buildings onto locations that will make catching Imposter Monkeys easier to do, as well as avoiding certain difficult tiles. It may be enticing to place buildings on top of Caves or Volcanoes to earn more Bloonstones, but the challenge may become too much on the latter to complete, due to the Village and Ice restrictions.
If confident with strategy, some Monkeys From Space tiles can be captured while winning with Monkey Teams, even with No Lives Lost. Prioritize tiles that are compatible with the current Monkey Teams and have a suitable early-game progression.
Collecting Imposters
The Imposter Monkeys ("Imposters") work the same way as the Bloon Spies from Bloon Spy Invasion, so the manipulation of the city's layout should match the optimization of popping Bloon Spies. Place Special Buildings in locations away from the Unit and Upgrade Buildings; only these buildings influence the spawning of Imposters. Additionally, avoid adding visual clutter in the city. On the flip side, it may help to add decorations that increase color contrast, such as the Tarmac tiles, which are darker than most paths.
