Captain Cassie is a DPS character that by default, can only be placed in water or neutral terrain. She suffers from a bug that locks her aiming direction in place, which means that the player must either opt for a build with less attack speed or run lots of attack speed but position Cassie in a place where she will aim well. This bug renders Captain Cassie as a character that does not find much of a use once the player acquires other characters.

Like most DPS characters, Captain Cassie wants attack speed and MOAB damage, but because her Grapes cannot be buffed by raw attack bonuses, non-specific damage buffs have nearly no effect on her DPS. Baker's Shard is the most important attack speed trinket for her, while her weapon should either be Time Bomb as it gives lots of attack speed, or alternatively Bomb & Chain as it adds an extra projectile if avoiding the rotation lock from attacking too fast. Engineers Blueprints is practically essential for boosting her DPS, but if avoiding too many attack speed buffs, Demon Heart can be utilized for buffing her bomb damage, while Baby Tooth reduces the cooldown of her MOAB Takedown ability. Note that MOAB Takedown gets more damage from having more Pirate Crew allies on the map, so on maps without water, Lady Rainicorn should be saved for her Pirate Crew if relying on her ability.
