Double Lead Bloon is a Basic Bloon card in Bloons Card Storm, introduced in version 4.0. It attacks twice if it hits the opposing Hero and its armor reduces all damage taken by 10.

The card artwork depicts a Double Lead Bloon punching a blue punching bag with a drawing of a happy Monkey's face taped onto it. The chain for the punching bag snapped after the impact of the Double Lead Bloon's left Bloon. In the background is an empty boxing ring and the interior of a gym.

Tips

This section was last updated for: version 6.4

• Compared to most Double Bloons, Double Leads are less susceptible to low-hit damage, which makes Barrel of Monkeys or other low damage Monkeys struggle. However, they're slower than Double Yellows for the same cost, so its strength mostly relies on its large Armor.
  • Unlike Double Yellows, Double Leads can take two Long Range Rangs without getting destroyed, leaving 40 Health outside of Dark Castle or other Health modifiers.
• Try to use high-damage attacks on Double Leads first. Storm Of Arrows and Super Monkey Storm do significant damage but cannot one-shot them.
• While they are slower than Double Yellow Bloons, and do not have a higher health pool than the 2 Gold more expensive Double Ceramic Bloon (which poses more of a direct threat), Double Lead Bloons are notably unable to be damaged by Barrel of Monkeys without ATK bonuses and resistant enough against Robo Monkey. Note that players do equip high-damage or Armor Piercing Monkeys.
• Being slower than Double Yellow Bloon, it is not viable in aggro decks, and having less health than Double Ceramic Bloon, it is not viable in fast burn decks with Quick Ready and Hastening Bloon.
• Most human players do not run Double Lead, simply because it doesn't fit into any suitable deck archetype. As such, Double Lead is only really encountered in Dreadbloon battles.
  • For Tempo, there are many other 5 Gold Bloon cards with 2 charges (e.g. Black Bloon) that aren't slow and vulnerable to almost all defensive Tempo cards such as Missile Launcher.
  • In theory, Double Lead should hurt anti-aggro in aggro mirrors, being almost a hard counter to cheap units like Barrel of Monkeys, but its slow speed and vulnerability to Mass Detonation makes it not worth the slot.
  • Armor Powered Bloon high roll decks don't need Double Lead's higher base Armor, instead preferring swarms combined with Mass Lead Production and Lead Coating Bloon.

Update history

Version 5.1

•  Added "Double Attack" to the card description

Version 5.2

•  Health increased ― 100 → 130

Version 6.4

“

There are two Lead Bloons on this because it's a double Lead, so why not double the armor? And a health boost to also help with that. This generally makes Double Lead a lot easier to actually hit and deal damage with, and it makes it less of the laughingstock out of the doubles.
— u/No-Appearance1780's commentary, 17:49–18:03 (with most disfluencies removed)

”

•  Health increased ― 130 → 140
•  Armor increased ― 10 → 20

Development

Ninja Kiwi proposed a buff to Double Lead Bloon in Version 5.2 by increasing its Health from 100 to 130, which was left unchanged for the update.

Version 6.4 further buffed Double Lead Bloon, with the incentive of being more tanky against chip damage, alongside a thematic fit with being a "double" Bloon.

Trivia

• This card's flavor text is a play on words: "Pb" is both an abbreviation of "personal best" and the chemical symbol of lead.
