Barrel of Monkeys is a Primary Monkey card in Bloons Card Storm, introduced in version 4.0. It has no additional effect, but it has the most charges of any Monkey.
The card art depicts five Dart Monkeys in a barrel floating on water. In-game, the monkeys have identical in-game models to regular Dart Monkeys, but they are treated as a separate card and display the Barrel of Monkeys card when selected.
Tips

- This card competes with Dart Monkey Twins, which is more cost-efficient when at least two twins are placed. However, this card is more space-efficient per card, better for emergency burst damage, and is a better combo card for things that rely on placing Monkeys.
- As the cheapest way to fill four spaces with Dart Monkeys, this card works well as a setup for Super Monkey Fan Club and/or Total Transformation Monkey. It also works well for boosting Marketplace's Gold generation.
- Having the most charges, Barrel of Monkeys is a reliable way for triggering On Replace effects such as those from Quincy Action Figure and Monkey Priestess. The many charges are also helpful for Adora's sacrifices.
- Like many multi-charge Monkey cards, Barrel of Monkeys is a great choice for activating Clever Bloons (especially Clever Green and Clever Yellow).
- Armored Bloons (e.g. Lead Bloon, Lead Zeppelin) and Armored Powers (e.g. Lead Casing, Mass Lead Production) are an effective choice against Barrel of Monkeys, as each individual Monkey from this card does low damage.

Development
[edit | edit source]The community playtesters on Version 5.2 had playtested a nerf to Barrel of Monkeys by decreasing their charges from 5. It was playtested with 3 charges, but reverted to 4 after playtesters noted how weak the card became.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Prior to changes in version 5.2, the Barrel of Monkeys had the most charges of any card in the game's history. It is currently tied with the Discount Bloon for the most charges.
