Forum:Determine naming standards for legacy BTD6 images
| This is a settled discussion about changing something about Blooncyclopedia. Do not modify it. Deadline: Sunday, 22 March 2026 at 23:59 UTC Outcome: 3-2-0-0-2 (option A wins) |
If it's not clear, the title refers to MOABs and also certain projectiles from before Update history:Bloons TD 6/Version 8.0, back when many of the game's assets were 2d images rather than 3d models. This poll is relatively unimportant as to my knowledge, no pre v8.0 images (that have since been updated) have been added to the wiki yet. This poll is more to gauge what the standard should be going forward regarding these Legacy assets. As a placeholder, I will be using BTD6{insert_text_here}bloon_MOAB.png, with "{insert_text_here}" being the text that will be replaced for each option.
- Option A: BTD6_PreV8.0_bloon_MOAB.png
- Option B: BTD6_v7.1_bloon_MOAB.png
- Option C: BTD6_2D_bloon_MOAB.png
- Option D: BTD6_Legacy_bloon_MOAB.png
- Option E: No additional standard(s)
Option A
This feels like the most logical choice, given that if any assets are ever replaced a second time, Option D wouldn't work anymore, and for Option C, yet another new standard would likely have to be decided upon. TechTato (talk) 17:05, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
I like this option the best Overclockbtd (talk) 19:14, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
Second choice Drgoku282 (talk) 21:59, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
Option B
- This is my second choice. TechTato (talk) 17:05, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Honestly I'd like a standard for images, so I'm picking this. It can be rather difficult searching for images when the names aren't consistent and many people don't seem to follow the file guidelines on best practices for naming. It's annoying when trying to put together a gallery page, for example. --Planterror (talk) 06:12, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Option C
Option D
Option E
- I really think it does not really matter, as long the image is correctly categorized and the name somewhat says what it is, it can be found without that much effort. Probably adding a category like BTD6 obsolete/legacy images category will do the trick Drgoku282 (talk) 21:59, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- I really don't think it matters. Polavux (talk) 23:45, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

If anyone has a better idea than what's available in these options, please leave it here TechTato (talk) 17:05, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
This proposal doesn't have a status quo option. IMO file naming conventions don't need any more standardization. As long as the file name is readable, generally describes what the file is, and what game or media the file is from, it doesn't matter how it's formatted and it can be inconsistent with other files of the same category.
