Development

“

A year and a half ago, I wrote a script for a pilot, a sort of teaser of Bloons' origins. The monkeys telling a story of how it all started—a retrospective and a chance for the community to go back through Bloons Tower Defense 1 through 6. We did that on our own, and then we were like, "This feels really good. We should pursue this."

In October 2024, Ninja Kiwi released "The Story of Monkeys vs Bloons" onto their YouTube channel. The animated short inspired, and serves as a precursor to, Monkey Tales.

On 16 September 2026, Ninja Kiwi filed a trademark for "Bloons Monkey Tales" with the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office. On 19 September, they released a teaser for the series onto YouTube.

Ninja Kiwi announced the series officially on 3 October 2026.
