Spa Pits is a Beginner map in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 48.0. It is a spa-themed rendition of Tar Pits from Bloons TD 5, now set in a much more tropical environment with lots of palm trees and other plant life.

Layout

All of the main features of the original map are utilized in some way, but with several major changes: First, the five outer pits of tar are now pools of water that allow for much more water tower placement than the original map. Additionally, a new circular path around the center pool is incorporated into the track layout; the new layout has only one entrance and one exit, and it involves Bloons taking a full clockwise loop around each outer pool, with partial counterclockwise loops around the center pool in between. The five caves now function as line of sight blockers and the extra plant life blocks tower placement, but neither of these changes significantly increase the track's difficulty. There are also four additional entrances/exits that affect the Pre-Game Prep Monkey Knowledge point, but they are permanently inactive during normal gameplay.

Easter egg

The map has a secret that can only be activated before starting the first round, which changes its appearance and layout to be more like Tar Pits. Selecting the loose rocks blocking the four inactive entrances/exits, in the order indicated by nearby scratch marks on the rocks, causes a prompt to appear asking "Make map heaps harder?". If confirmed, the path around the center pit will disappear, splitting the layout back into five small clockwise loops utilized by all five entrances/exits, and the five outer water pools turn into tar, which renders them unusable for tower placement and sells any towers that were originally placed in the water.

The harder version is based on its appearance in the mobile version of Bloons TD 5, unlike in the Flash version, where the paths alternate directions based on the round and the pits can be placed on.

Strategy

Easy version

Spa Pits is fairly average in terms of difficulty among the Beginner maps, but it stands out due to most of the best tower space being occupied by water. As a result, water-based strategies are highly recommended, with global range towers also being a good alternative. With general guidelines, Spa Pits can be beaten with relative ease.

The following options are strongly recommended:

Name Portrait Reasoning
Carrier Flagship Flagship has incredible damage output for its cost, wiping out the mid-game and early late-game with ease, and on this map covering each region of the map with little trouble. It's recommended to support it with Admiral Brickell, which boosts its DPS and also improves saveup from Destroyer, and use the 5-2-0 crosspath for higher DPS and utilize rapid-fire grapes.
Bloontonium Reactor If placed around the middle of the central pool, Reactor provides almost guaranteed decamo around almost anywhere around the map. This also applies to Energizer, which pairs very well with water-focused strategies.

Hard version

This strategy section is empty or incomplete.
See the strategy guidelines for more information on how to write strategy sections.

The hard version is significantly harder, not only due to the very short lanes, but also still retains Beginner hero leveling (i.e. slowest leveling rate). Early-game is currently impossible on normal CHIMPS rules, but with Co-Op starting cash it's manageable.
