Version 4.9 is the first major update to the mobile version of Bloons TD Battles of 2018. It introduced the maps Space Station, Mountain Pass, and Riverside.

Changes

The Ninja is a solid tower and we're happy with its overall balance, however, the Bloonjitsu upgrade is just a bit too much value for its current price, so we've bumped it up a little to help with that.

The MOAB Assassin ability doesn't feel quite powerful enough to be worth the cost of upgrading. We've increased its damage to help make it more valuable and effective when defending those early MOAB rushes!

The Sniper isn't seen too much in the higher arenas, so we've lowered the prices of a couple of its upgrades to hopefully give it a little more value and make it a more viable option in your loadout.

2-X Point Five Oh

3-X Deadly Precision
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $3,500 → $3,200
Since giving the Turbo Charge ability camo detection, the Boomer has seen an increase in use in the arenas. However, it's now a little too powerful, so we've dropped its duration by a couple of seconds to help balance that out.

  • Nerf Ability: duration reduced ― 10s → 8s
The Buccaneer's Grape Shot was just too powerful for the price - especially when stacked - so we've slightly increased the cost to help combat that. On the flip side, we felt the Aircraft Carrier was too expensive when compared to how effective it is, so we've reduced the cost to make it more viable.

The Glue Gunner still doesn't see as much use as we'd like and we think a sticking point is its lack of popping power compared to other towers at a similar price point. We've lowered the cost of some of its most useful upgrades to hopefully make it a more viable tower choice.

Again, the Monkey Town upgrade felt overpriced for what you get, so we've dropped the cost to help make that choice between the two upgrade paths that bit more difficult!

We feel like the Engineer is a solid tower, but might be slightly too expensive for what you get. A slight tweak of its base cost, and the cost of it's[sic] Larger Service Area upgrade, should give it that bit more value. We've also reduced the price of the Overclock ability since it's less powerful than it is in BTD 5 for the same cost.

Since making ZOMGs immune to the 'Chipper's Super Wide Funnel, we've reduced the price to bring it more in line with the power of the upgrade.

Bug fixes

  • "Fixed a crash when logging in to a social service to invite a friend to a private match"
  • "Fixed an issue where the medallion display for players with high amounts of medallions could get out of sync with their actual medallion amount"
  • "Fixed an issue where the Win/Loss ratio shown in the main menu could be out of date"
  • "Fixed an issue where the Win/Loss ratio shown in the lobby player stats could be wrong"
  • "Fixed an issue where free club access could be consumed by a tournament match"

Notes

  • The changes to fix the sub-projectile duplication glitch for Flash Bomb, Glue Splatter, and Cannon Ship are listed in the in-game patch notes as a change to Monkey Fort specifically, even though the fix was done by preventing their pierce from being modified, which also prevents MIB Call To Arms (and, in future versions, Powers that buff pierce) from causing the glitch as well.
