Discount Bloon is an Advanced Bloon card in Bloons Card Storm. It reduces the cost of all Discount Bloons currently in the player's hand by 1 each time it is played, including other charges of the same card.

The card artwork depicts a Discount Bloon presented on top of a piece of decorated fabric, itself on top of a white block. On the window is three stickers with symbols representing a sale. The price tag, which is marked "%", is on the Bloon itself. In-game, the model is the similar to a Green Bloon, except a little darker green and has the aforementioned price tag.

Tips

  • Having multiple Discount Bloons in the same hand is more cost-efficient as the effect of discounting affects all Discount Bloons in hand. Having multiple can create powerful swarms that can overwhelm opponents unprepared for them.
  • Discount Bloons are expensive at a total of 22 Gold for one copy; but their solid 220 health allows them to function as effectively a weaker but more spammable Ceramic Bloon. Consider decks that like to play later and make lots of Gold with cards like Banana Farm or Marketplace.
  • Discount Bloons as a rush are susceptible to spread damage from cards like Super Monkey Storm, Frag Bomb Shooter or Thunder Druid. They do not pop immediately from any of these, but take heavy damage.
  • Discount Bloons give a total of 22 Bloontonium per card, allowing it to give the second highest amount of Bloontonium per card out of any Bloon in the game. This can be great if you need tons of Bloontonium for a hero like Adora, but it’s extremely high cost makes less expensive Bloontonium generators such as Golden Blimp, Black Bloon, Zebra Bloon, or BFB more viable for heroes who do not need such a huge amount of Bloontonium.
  • Prince of Darkness if on the field can help Discount Bloons resist the effect of cards such as Blade Maelstrom, Glaive Ricochet, Thunder Druid or Super Monkey Storm.

“
This generally makes Discount fulfill a new role; that role being a swarm Ceramic. [...] Its huge health pool now allows the cost to really matter; with its old stats, even if you got a pretty low Discount Bloon cost, it still wasn't really that strong because 120 on two was just a pretty bad stat line all around, so even in those low costs, it really didn't matter all that much. 220, though, is a much better stat line. Although you're paying more initially for it, it also has a lot more of an actual effect on the game immediately when you play it, and it doesn't take that long to become pretty solid. At 5 cost, you're getting a slightly weaker Ceramic, but at 4 or less, you're getting a[sic] actually pretty good deal. Not to mention that these are a lot more tanky against stuff like Super Monkey Storm, which you can use stuff like Prince of Darkness, Maelstrom, all that kind of stuff that generally helps Discount work better as an actual tempo tool instead of being this kind of weird gimmicky thing. Its gimmick's still intact, by the way, you still can discount other Discounts in your hand by [...] playing a Discount Bloon, which makes drawing multiple Discounts an incredibly powerful play that can overwhelm your opponents very easily if you get that. Discount Bloon is an incredibly fun Bloon with this rework and I highly encourage you to put in some tempo decks and try it out.

Development

Discount Bloon was buffed in previous updates to keep it relevant as a rushing card. However, these didn't succeed, as the fundamental problem was that it was still vulnerable to being one-shot by Super Monkey Storm.[1] Version 6.4 completely reworked the Bloon into a variation of a theoretical Swarm Ceramic Bloon,[1] which would make discounting synergies more valuable, offer a higher Bloontonium count per card (excluding discounts to itself with additional played copies), and give Tempo decks a new card to revolve around instead of purely a gimmicky Bloon.[1]
